Doesn't some seem wrong that we can't do anything. : You can modify your home in any fashion you see fit. Yes, it probably has to be 'your' home, I doubt apartment owners will go past meeting 'minimum standards'. It's not financially savvy. Obviously I didn't watch the show, but was Matt's point that other people modify their homes for us? A visitor. I know there are several members in the community who have modified their homes to be better fits. I visited a home where the master bathroom had been modified to suit their achon needs. Although I had to admit it made sense for them, I had a heck of a time standing up from that low position (SED). I've visited the Roloff farm and was surprised their house wasn't more accessible, especially for those using wheelchairs or scooters. I've yet to see the kitchen makeover episode to see what accomodations they've made. I (technically) own my home and chose not to make major modifications due to lowering market value. I also didn't intend to stay here this long. But, I recently started dating someone in a wheelchair and I'm wondering how the lack of accessibility is going to impact. So have your dreams and modify away. I'll bet there are government grants that would even help. Maybe you can write to one of those TV shows that help families in need - what's the Sunday night one called? ~~~~~~~ From: s <luvdogsnpups@...> Date: Sat Apr 8, 2006 10:19 pm Subject: Re: poem - wow! Any advice or help getting started in this group and LPA would greatly appreciated!! : District 3's spring regional is coming up in a few weeks, GO! I'm debating if I can get away that weekend and drive that far, but I've been to one of the D3's and had a wonderful time. Just jump right in, the sharks don't bite. And if you hit a shark in the snout it goes away.
