Guest guest
Hi, and welcome. Looks like we now have 2 " Twisted Sisters " . :^) Are you saying you work for Social Security Disability? Ironic, but cool. Your employer is a frequent topic of discussion here, as you can imagine. Sometimes surgeons will try more conservative approaches than full revision surgery. My only advice is to get at least one other opinion, preferably from a surgeon with considerable flatback revision experience. Sharon surgery for spinal stenosis New to the group. I had surgery back in 1974. Now at age 44 I have flatback along with herniated discs. My neurosurgeon wants to do surgery for stenosis to relieve the pressure on the nerves. Anyone else ever had this done with the rod in place? I can hardly walk more than 20 feet without severe pain and standing is out of the question. I still manage to work with SS Disability where they aren't exactly thrilled with my problems. Kind of ironic in that respect. Hello to everyone. Support for scoliosis-surgery veterans with Harrington Rod Malalignment Syndrome. Not medical advice. Group does not control ads or endorse any advertised products. Guest guest
Hi twistedsisterbat, Welcome to the group, and, of course, I'm sorry to hear that you have problems. I haven't had surgery for stenosis myself, but I've read some things about it in relation to flatback and scoliosis. What kinds of questions do you have? loriann p.s. I am so grateful to the people at SS who had a hand in approving my disability payments!!!!
Guest guest
Welcome! My first thought upon reading your post was that in general I am a big fan of getting more than one opinion before doing anything to my back, and I think it is worth talking to an orthopedic surgeon as well as your neuro. Just my opinion, of course. Guest guest
Hi Ellen and Liana, I have had the surgery (in '95). It was very successful. If you are seeking additional information, please let me know. I would strongly emphasize what has already been said: have the surgery done by someone who is very familiar with how the surgery must be done on an LP spine, ideally someone who has already successfully done the surgery on LPs.
