Guest guest
Beth - you might want to try to find a really nice book called " Dog Heaven " ......I think the author is Rylant, but I'm not sure. It really helped my kids when we had to have our first dog put to sleep. For all of you with kitties out there, I think there's a companion book called " Cat Heaven " . Guest guest
No problem... and it usually is a fast healer, although comfrey salve would be 100% better, but use what you got... it should help a whole lot... Sam
Guest guest
Actually, it's working already. My lips are starting to peel and as soon as the skin gets scratchy, I put more on to soften the loose skin. Boy, this really sounds like an disgusting subject but I've NEVER had my lips in this kind of condition. And I'm not even outside very much. I just KNOW it had to be that lipstick I've been using. It went in the trash yesterday. Guest guest
Hi Alice, Actually I unsubscribed for a while as I was dealing with the move. The first reversal came during that time. The second reversal just came on Saturday and I got the surgery date today. I just recently resubscribed and this was my first posting since. I'm seeing Dr. Bhansali at Ear Consultants of Georgia. I went to a different clinic before but didn't feel comfortable. I felt comfortable with Dr. Bhansali. As to the Atlanta area, it's different. I'm still adjusting and I'm learning to like it. I don't think it will ever replace San Francisco in my heart. Regards, Sam
Guest guest
Hi Sam, Your surgery date is approaching fast! Congratulations and we all look forward to reading about your experiences. I have a journal to share if you, or anyone, would like to read about mine. I had my surgery 4 years ago this month (WOW!!) and plan to celebrate! Guest guest
Sam, Actually, there could be a connection. I dont know if tuning forks would be of use to those with no musical aptitude but they could be fun. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* A dog teaches a boy fidelity, perseverance, and to turn around three times before lying down. -- Benchley & Gimlet (Guide Dawggie) Portland, Oregon N24C 3G 8/2000 Hookup rlclark77@... http://home.comcast.net/~rlclark77/

Guest guest
Hi Alice, Yes, I'm more than ready for my activation. Last week we were playing around with the headset to see if we could find the magnet. Sure enough we did. It was a strange feeling. Guest guest
Sam, Yeah - only the headset would work? I'm waiting for my activation myself, December 8, no gift box here, though. I plucked a magnet off my refrigerator and tried to find the embedded receiver to no luck... Neither a paper clip would work. implanted 10/20 with N24C On Tue, 09 Nov 2004 00:50:17 -0000, Armstrong <silly1@...> wrote: > > > Sam, > If you think the magnet on your head was a weird feeling.. wait till > you hear those first sounds..LOl > Better take somekleenex along. > Please let us know how the activation goes. > Hope everything goes smoothly for you. > Hugs, > Silly MI > > > > > In , " Sam A. Guest guest
Hi I got the " gift box " when I had my staples removed. I tried the magnet at that time and later in the week. No luck then. Tried again last week and it stuck! Two more days! Regards, Sam
Guest guest
Hiya, Sam, I saw your post today and had to respond. Just want to let you know you are not alone, I, too, am wearing my hearing aid in my other ear, which was my " good " ear before implantation. It's over 2 years and I have worn the aid since day 1, despite the audi asking me not to. It was , and continues to be, impossible for me to be in the real world and function with just the CI. My lip reading ability seems to be good to others, but it really isn't. When I was implanted, I took the hearing aid I had worn in that ear and had my audi reprogram it for my left (good) ear. Now I have two hearing aids which I switch off each day and baby at night in the dry aid. I could not be without them. I switched audi's after a year and when I told the new guy that I was sorry I just couldn't do without the hearing aid, he said, " Why would you?? If it helps you, for goodness sake, wear it! " G-d, was I relieved to know I wasn't committing big sins! Hang in there, Sam. I do hope voice discrimination comes for you soon. But know that there are others out there struggling, despite wanting it all to work terrific right now! Good Luck!! ) Jackie
Guest guest
Hi , Nice to hear from you as it's been a while. Thanks for your encouragement. I just had another mapping today so I'm starting to pick up more words and sounds ('S' and 'Sh') which makes the words sound strange to me. The audiologist gave me some listening exercises to do to get used to hearing how words are spoken. However, I'm heading to San Francisco for the weekend so it's on hold until Tuesday. Guest guest
Hi Jackie, I plan to re-program the HA I worn (wore?) in my left ear before my surgery. However, my audiologist doesn't want me to wear the HA in my right ear but I'm insisting on it. So he isn't as willing to re-program my HAs. Guess will have to wait a while.
