Wheelchair access to small car

I drive a Toyota Tercel, 13 years old, and I love it. My SO has been getting in

it from his wheelchair by using transfer boards, but is having more trouble

doing so. I think it would be more do-able if the passenger side door would

open further, so that he could get his chair right up to the side of the car

instead of at an angle. Does anyone know of a way to alter the door so that it

will open further?

Yes, a van would be great, but until we hit the lotto . . . .
