Guest guest
Yes, and I keep trying to steer those in the Pacific NW to OHSU in Portland, OR or Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles. Dr. Rimoin is wonderful in Los Angeles. While I can understand wanting to go to the two " top " (in some opinion's) hospitals, you do have to look at the longer road ahead. Is it fair to the other children in the family? Would you take them to the same sort of facility for a MRI? Chances are, your lp child will need MANY treatments of different types. Can you afford to take him or her to these two hospitals every time? It's just not feasible or fair to the rest of the family, down the road. And, if you happen to have a child with a RARE type of dwarfism, let me tell you, the doctors will want to turn your child inside out and xray them~ all at YOUR expense, and you will be happy to do that, because you hope they will tell you something new and wonderful, but they won't. They will tell you, " Your guess is as good as mine! " , and send you the bill. How do I know this? It has happened to me, children, it has happened to me. So, I PROMISE you young parents out there, DO not waste your money going over and over and over to the experts all the time~ every 6 months. Eventually you will learn as I did . Find an intelligent pediatrician who you trust, and who is willing to learn along WITH you,( because we all know by now the real expert on the baby is YOU) who is willing to consult WITH the experts at any given moment, and you will save all kinds of time, money and effort. I have wanted to say this to all of you for the longest time..... Thank you for giving me this moment, and please consider it, before you just delete it!
