Guest guest
Anyone who is placing the blame on FOX for the " Littlest Groom Sideshow " is barking up the wrong tree. FOX has staked its reputation on presenting " exploitainment " , and their strategy has worked quite well so far. Their " news " is so filled with sensationalism they have to remind you it is " fair and balanced " . Their " reality " programming reaches heights once only reserved for professional sludge peddlers such as Jerry Springer and Stern. It almost makes it acceptable mainstream fare. No, it isn't FOX that is to blame because they are only doing what they know best. The saying applies, " Stay with your strengths. " Then who is it the LP community should point the finger of blame toward. The answer to this is obvious. The blame lies squarely on the shoulders of the dozens of " Glens " , and, for the lack of a better term, " Glendas " that merrily toss their self esteem and respect out he window for their " 15 minutes of fame " and a few dollars of scale pay. They care not about themselves or how they are preceived by a society that has been conditioned to " gawk " at a car wreck as they pass. Oh, Im sure these people have their excuses. Probably a favorite would be, " The show isn't what the producers told me the it would be like. " , or, " If I had known it was going to turn out like this I wouldn't have done it. " The problem is unless you were either born yesterday, and thus never saw any of the " reality " programming, or you have an IQ somewhere in the same neighborhood of a stalk of celery, you know going into it exactly what it is going to be. It is television, nothing is left to chance... not even Janet 's breast. These events will continue until the day comes that no one in the LP community will accept the roles. And sadly, I doubt that time comes soon. FOX knows a little secret; There are plenty of " Glens " and " Glendas " that are more than willing to happily walk hand-in- hand with them down the " exploitation highway " to humiliation and higher ratings. Does anyone know when the " Midgets Racing The Camel " special is coming on FOX? Oh, Im not calling anyone the dread " M " word. But you can rest assured there will be plenty of viewers watching the little people run, and calling them exactly that. I guess we might as well emit a collective " sigh " and move aside. I wouldn't want to get trampled by the camel's hoves. M(2)
Guest guest
Excuse me, but I for one got a much more plesant programe then I had expected. What exactly was so exploitave about it to you? Is there a forum where I can talk to other short people who are worried about the negative way we are portrayed because of all the folks who seem so angry all of the time, constantly blaming other people for the way they are percieved? Those who are blasting their opinion and seem so easily offended? I know that I only represent myself. By jumping on a bed, made us look like children? No, if anything, she only made herself look like one, but I don't even think that is the case. It is the vocal dwarves' constant blathering about being so offended by everything that makes us look funny more then anything else. It looks like " short man syndrome " . You can't tell people what to think of yourself, or blame others for your you are percieved. If you have a plesant personality, or some awesome skill or achievement, that will be what you will be liked for. Being short was not my choice, and I have nothing in common with other short people because of an accident of genetics. I have things in common with other filmmakers, and people who like to read Kurt Vonegutt. So if Bridget wants to make porn, I know that her decision in no way affects myself. The funniest part of all is that the LPA was founded by the beloved Barty, who played more fantasy creatures then I can shake a stick at, but it seems that the dwarf populous has chosen to convienently ignore that. It was founded by an actor who chose to don funny costumes fo money.-Cherub > Then who is it the LP community should point the finger of blame > toward. The answer to this is obvious. Guest guest
This show has already been produced with all average height people. It was interesting and very popular. How you could say that the LPs that chose to do this version should take blame for their actions is just absurd. You say all of this like they didn't know what the show was about.. maybe they wanted to do it because it was a cool idea as they had already seen the average height version. Granted they didn't have a twist with LPs in on that one but if they had we would still be having all of this controversy. This is something that average height people do all the time.. they ARE television and if and LP decides that they want to do it then more power to them. You can't save the LP community from humiliation.. we get it just by breathing but you can stand up and do as everyone else.. it shows that you are a person.. you are unique and hell no everyone is not gonna like what you do but that's what makes you human. I say kudos to all LPs that chose to do the show. Not that I have agreed with every comment made on the show but still yet it was there choice. I was very glad to see LPs on TV that weren't in costumes or appearing as elves and all that jazz that we always relate to an LP on TV... now that to me is humiliating. There are so many shows with LP appearances that are not in the best of lights.. this is just another to give everyone something to over opinionate on... I guess this is.. So until the next show...
