Hello. I'm back with the same problem that I had a year and a half

ago, but it's actually worse now, b/c it's becoming a safety issue.

It really wasn't that bad when my average size son was 15 months,

when I last wrote I think. I am a 3 ft. 8 achon, and have a son who

is average height who is only about 5 inches shorter than me now.

He's three years old now. He's a very high energy active boy. Well,

my struggle is when I am especially in public places like today at

the park, he was playing like he was supposed to in the playground

area, but then near the end, he went running off into an adjacent

field next to the park. I had a friend with me, with her 3 year old

daughter. I called my son to come back, but he refused for quite some

time, then finally started making his way across the field to another

location, closer to the parking area. I was beginning to fear he

might run into the parking area. He ran to the tennis courts, where

my friend took his hand and between us both, we held his hands while

he was struggling. He put up a struggle but then finally marched to

the car with all of us. I talk about these situations ALL the time

with him, like if we're in the front yard and he runs off around the

corner down the sidewalk, without looking and stopping at the

driveways. He doesn't get in the street but he doesn't stop at the

driveways either. It just plain scares me that he won't stop when I

ask him to. And I can not run as fast as him, he is very very fast.

So any of you lp parents of average height kids have this problem?

What do you do?

Thanks!

Carolyn
