Guest guest
Adelaide, I didn't recognize your email address on here and read your email message. I was quite surprised when I saw it was you. I was surprised because you were VERY considerate and understanding with all of my questions and didn't seem to offended by them. I thought your email was wonderful. You sound as though you've really been through a lot of sorrow and hurt in your childhood. I'm sorry for that for you. My own dad was very mean and cruel to us and always made me feel very shameful for many, many things. He also made my mom feel the same way....just for being female. My dad died about 5 years ago and I am just beginning to see that he can't hurt me anymore. If I continue to act out those things then I am letting him have the control in my life. Of course, its MUCH easier to let it go when he's gone and can't hurt me anymore. I'm sorry that I don't have a lot of answers for you as I have never faced your specific situations. I can hear my sweet mother say though " you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar " . Kill 'em with kindness. My favorite of course is to be sarcastic. If someone is following you assume they are following you because you are the most beautiful and important in the room. Say sweetly, " do you want my autograph? I was just wondering since you were following me " or.... " sorry, but I'm taking a break from the paparazzi today, I'll have a photoshoot tomorrow. Meet you then, k? " What if they say " IT only comes up to here " then say, " Oh look, IT speaks! (and point to them) When, someone says, " YOU can drive? " How bout saying " Yep, and I can walk, talk and sing in the shower! " . LOL Like I said, I don't know what you go through because I haven't experienced the things you have. It's just a suggestion. I always tell my kids when they ask a stupid question then they are going to get a stupid answer. My ultimate? " Mom, how come he/she gets to do it and I don't? " The answer? .................. " Because I love him/her more than you! " LOL They know it's not true but it sure shuts them up! I hope these suggestions at least made you smile. I know I've only met you through email but I'm positive you are a strong, beautiful and dynamic woman. Hold your head up and don't let anyone make you feel shameful. The Lord made you the way he did because he needed you in this world. Make him proud! Guest guest
When I was in the 7th grade my class went on a field trip to our science center and IMAX theater. It was kind of a strange year for me and I don't remember any of the other kids being very kind to me or anybody else. You know how 7th grade can be. While we were sitting waiting for the IMAX movie to start some other kids from another class and school walked by and they were staring and pointing. I can't remember if they said anything. This was kind of standard for me and though I didn't like it I kind of just blocked it out. All of a sudden on of the girls who was sitting next to me grabbed my camera and held it out with the words " Take a picture it'll last longer " ! That has been over 20 years now and I still laugh with delight when I think about it!
