Question: With the larger head of the baby can you deliver naturally or do you need a c-section? Do all achon babies need a shunt? when is it put in (what age)? Guest guest
Hi: I am average sized. I delivered an achon girl naturally. We did not know she had achondroplasia prior to birth. However, she was sunny-side up and I pushed for three hours! It will depend on the head circumference of the baby if she can deliver without the C-section. Not all achon babies need shunts. An MRI is usually done shortly after birth the check the foramen magnum. The genetics doctor will watch the growth closely as the child grows. Good luck!
