My shoes wear down all the time because of the way I walk. Which is

normal for me.

However, I also have orthopedic braces to support my ankles and I

believe that helps the wearing down because my feet are straighten

out a little more.

But there arent any braces for my hips from turning out. Then again,

I do have dysplaisia.

My suggestion, Either keep buying shoes, which you may regardless,

or/and go to an orthopedic specialist if you can to see if there is

something out there.

One time I found that All I needed was a lift in my shoe, because my

hips were hurting, ...the cause, one of my legs is shorter than the

other...which I pointed out. A little lift helped a lot!

I understand the frustration of wearing out shoes so quickly! I

think we can all relate to the differentiation of our gate as a

dwarf. This can drastically effect the condition of our shoes. I run

on the track and cross country team at my school, and find myself

throwing out new shoes within a month. The doctors say that I over-

pronate when I put pressure on my foot. Over-pronation is when your

foot rolls inward. It was causing my shoes to wear down on the

sides, and the shoes would lose its basic support system. I developed

extreme pain on the outside of my ankles, because of over-pronating.

The doctors said that I had two ankle bones constantly hitting each

other and irritating one another. Eventually, it would lead to a bone

fracture. The solution, however, was quite simple. Orthotics were

designed especially for my feet to help re-align my ankle. I also

noticed an improvement in my stride. Since then, I have not had any

ankle pain. However, I can tell a major difference when I do not wear

my orthotics. I would recommend getting orthotics to anyone

experiencing joint problems, or noticing an unusual wearing-down of

their shoes. You might as well give it a try :-)

About two years ago, I found a great clearence sale at Wally World in the

shoe department (Wal-Mart). I bought some black high tops that look like

sneakers, but are made for construction work; I paid $15 for them on

clearence, normally about $40, I think.

I have never worn the same pair of shoes more than 4 to 6 months without

eventually getting some major pain in my ankles because I have worn the

outside of the shoe down. These steel-toed construction sneakers are still

going strong and I love them. I don't know if it's because the steel keeps

my foot from turning over so much or what, but they are the best thing I've

found in years.

I know a lot of you wear smaller shoes than I do (I wear a 5 1/2 wide), but

maybe this will give you some other ideas.

I wear my sneakers down terribly. The bottom of my shoes as well as the

sides wear down really bad. What do some of you guys do to help prevent

this

from happening?
