Guest guest
With kombucha there is NO FAT and you can draw it off before it is totally ready and still tastes slightly sweet - I don't think there is anything in Kombucha that would cause her harm. Tea, granulated sugar & water plus of course the culture - is there anything there that would harm her? If I lived in the US, I would happily send her some to try but I live in the UK - I am sure there must be somebody who can let her have a couple of days supply or you can buy it from health food shops in the UK - maybe you can in the US!! nne

Guest guest
Sorry, here's the letter: E-mail message Yep, I am having acidosis again. I was researching and it seems to be it. If a person is chronically ill or has kidney, liver or heart problems they are more inclined to this problem. A diet high in fat or a build up of lactic acid int the blood can bring it on for someone like me. I have been drinking the milk whole this time which means lots of fat and lactic acid. I have trying to have more of the good fats, olive oil, butter etc. And then I am lacto fermenting with buttermilk. Plus the cranberries and fruit dish I made is very acidic. and then I don't handle citrus well and there was 2 tablspoons of lemon juice in my breakfast...its just all getting to me now. I actually started with bloating and nausea right after getting the milk and have been noticing how sensitive my gut is to the slightest acidy thing. The symptoms of which I have all of are, headache, lack of energy, sleepiness, breathing shallow, nausea, dhydration, loss of appetite, disorineted, a fruity smell to the bowls or breath and eventually coma and then death. I don't have the last two yet. So I have a problem here. This wonderful diet isn't going to work for me as long as I am suseptable to acidosis like this. I notice more pain in the liver when this is going on and my heart fails to function normally and the kidneys are in constant go mode, so this is not good and I can't play this game. I will give the starter to Chrissy. We can still enjoy the meat. And I was just starting to feel so good and get back to Mass and now I am back on the couch and in the bathroom. But who knew, but now we know.

Guest guest
This is her reply about the kombucha: E-mail message right now I want to avoid ferments since they are acidic unless someone has some direct knowledge pertaining to the problem. I am thinking that I will spend sometime trying to level out the acid problem and then once I am better I will try some of the soaked wheat grain products again in small amounts. I bet the cranberries had alot to do with this and then the milk with all its fat may have been too much. I have the flour ready to make banana bread and peanutbutter cookies today. So I will make them and freeze it to try later. The dough that soaked in buttermilk overnight smells very pleasant to me...I really want to be able to eat the grains without the phytic acid problems...I need my calcium badly. But I need the b vitamins and fiber and bulk from the whole wheat. I am so disapointed that I am reacting like this again. I want to eat healthy and be healthy and I can see the great good of this authors wisdom and the food tastes good and looks normal...a must for a happy family life and social life. bye. -----
Guest guest
Meg, Unfortunately, I don't know anything about acidosis. But I have had good experience with the alkalinizing, soothing benefits of Japanese twig, called kukicha, tea. It's soothed acid stomachs and the " acid mouth " of canker sores in my family. I don't know if that could help your sister. Also, does she use good quality salt, Celtic sea salt or something similar? A good salt could help to balance an acidic condition. Guest guest
Hi, Everyone, I realize that this is off subject, but I need kind of quick advice. My husband and I have some kind of cold/flu stuff. Actually it's not the flu and not really a cold. We have drainage at times, lots of coughing, throat tickling midway in our throats, down lower where gargling warn salt water doesn't really help. I had ear itching earlier, but I got my hubby to pour some peroxide in it. Needless to say, it really did help. I know this must be a viral thing. It's cough, cough, cough at times. Sneeze, sneeze, sneeze at times. It feels good to finally sneeze. Have watery eyes. Does anyone have any kind of suggestions? I've tried lots of garlic, which probably does help. We bought some peppermint snops, or whatever it is, and took a swig. We don't want to go to the doctor because we both know he'll give us antibiotics. Thanks, Susie

Guest guest
Hi Susie In the information I've read about cleansing it always indicates that those things we call cold symptoms are the body's way of eliminating toxins. So when we put a stop to the symptoms, then those toxins aren't released and are stuck in our system just to surface at another time and try to release in another way (or the same way again). So I'm thinking that when those symptoms appear one of the best things we can do is increase the body's ability to flush out those toxins that it's trying to get rid of. This past week I woke up with a bit of a scratchy sore throat. I gargled with apple cider vinegar, which reportedly absorbs some of the germs/toxins in your mouth (just be sure not to swallow it!). I have much more success with that than gargling with salt water. I drank more water and juices and did some skin brushing (which I realize I should be doing all the time but I haven't really developed the habit yet). The sore throat quickly went away. For a stuffy nose I use warm salt water. This might sound weird, but if you take a cup of warm salt water and bring it to your nose and gently sniff it in, it really helps to release the congestion in your nose. I don't know if any of this will be of any help. I hope you both feel better soon! Guest guest
Hi Susie, My wife and I have stopped two bouts of the flu in recent months using high doses of vitamin C. We took 4,000 mg. each morning for several days in a row and managed to stop the symptoms dead in their tracks. Right now I am taking 3,000 mg. of vit. C both morning and night in hopes of getting rid of the GB infection the ER doctor said I have (which he later denied saying), but my blood work shows an elevated white blood cell count of 16,000 ( " normal " range is 4,000 to 11,000). My stool is now soft and yellow, which may indicated intestinal infection. But the high dose vit. C seems to be helping. Guest guest
Hi Susie, Thanks for your earlier post. Along with regular chiropractic care, anytime I come down with a cold, I take 1 tsp. apple cider vinegar, in 8 oz. water, mixed with 1 tbsp. of honey. This is an old home remedy. You may also be able to purchase apple cider vinegar in tablet form at your health food store. Guest guest
< H2O2 in Ears...it Works ! >> ******************** Thanks, Tom. I had read this or something like it at Dr. Mercola's website. Yesterday I started putting HP in my ears. The right ear bubbled like crazy. It's the one that's itched the most. I didn't know how long you were supposed to leave it in your ear, though. This said 5 to 10 min. I know that I didn't leave it in there even a minute. I'll have to do it again. Sometimes I find that it helps for a short time and then I need to do it again. It does get the congestion moving, though, I think. When you get the apple cider vinegar, just be sure to get the natural, unfiltered kind. It should be a little cloudy, not clear like the filtered brands. One thing that helps me when I have had trouble sleeping is Valerian Root. It's non addictive, but just very relaxing and has helped me sleep through the night when I've had trouble with that. I'm not sure if it would help in this case, since it's the cough that's waking you up. But since it's so relaxing, it might just help soothe in all areas. I take it in tincture form because that seems to be more quickly absorbed. It's just a dropper full in a small amount of warm water. (less than a quarter of a cup). It's a weird taste, but since it's such a small amount it goes down quickly. One other suggestion I could make is to use essential oils either in a bath or in an inhalation using a bowl of steaming hot water, putting your face over it with a towel over your head and inhaling the steam. Eucalyptus oil is really good for congestion. You can get that at most health food stores also. Wishing you well!

Guest guest
Now this I would be very wary about...the fine hairs in the ears are extremely delicate and any damage to them will result in hearing loss over time. I never put anything in my ears - including my fingers! Ears are quite capable of keeping themselves clean. " Swiss Natural Sources " makes a good throat losenge with zinc and slippery elm. Youdissolve it under your tongue and it's great.
