Guest guest
Sorry I'm joining the fight late tonight.... I tripped getting out of bed this morning and then couldn't find my boxing gloves-- In all seriousness, I was caught up all day with People Magazine, and a whole string of other people calling in to the LPA office (who are seeing our response to the show) and wanting to give LPA money to increase our scholarship fund! No joke! We wasted no time letting people know that we don't really care about the show either way but if they really want to help LP's, then help us to raise our scholarship fund. " We need to double the amount of money we're able to give our applicants this year " -- We go on to tell them that one real way to fight against society's perceptions of LP's is to provide our youth the very best educations they deserve. You won't believe the responses we're getting! This show has been a wonderful catalyst for LPA's important causes. I hope I didn't miss any mud balls... I quickly scanned the digest and picked Leanne's email to respond to. Leanne-- Are you kidding? You should know me better than that... I live for this stuff. I'm a big boy and have no fear of people disagreeing with me. That's what makes us such a healthy and vibrant organization. I absolutely enjoy it when people disagree with me-- That's the only way to learn those valuable life lessons. Debate such as this is good and productive in every way for us as a segment of society. We would get bored if everybody thought the same way and took the same side. I'm sorry if this is making you feel squeamish because of your own choices but you have to live with your decisions and I've got to live with mine. I'm taking in a lot more input than just this list-- Unfortunately, with this particular issue I'm unable to reveal all that I know on this open list, which has left those rendering strong opinions more in the dark than I would like. We're bound by a non-disclosure contract not to discuss the details of the show but that doesn't mean I can't make decisions based on what I do know... Did that make any sense? It comes down to the fact that we have more information to make our judgment call than we're able to share with everybody right now. Leanne-- The article in New York daily news is perfectly accurate-- I was adamantly against mixing LP's and AP's in the show-- I told the producers that it was " ill-advised " and they chose not to take that advice. That's OK, I still think the show may have merit based on all that I know. Then again maybe they will hand out giant lollypops instead of roses and then I won't care for that as well. It is possible to like parts of something and not other parts of the same entity. If I had to take sides (sight unseen) I'd prefer to argue that reality show don't have any negative effect on me or most of the people I'd talk with in this organization. We have received dozens of emails and phone calls on this the past 3 days and the board of directors has been kept abreast (and supported) the official LPA stance on this. -- Rest assure I AM NOT defying the Board in any way shape or form. They are more in the loop than you may realize. Leanne, don't blame me for the controversy the show may cause-- Remember.. It's not about me. Regards, Matt I'll duck for the next incoming..... President Matt creates a stir not only publicy but among his own. Matt, It seems like you have more than you can handle. First letting Pratt go and now creating such a stir with this reality show that hasn't even aired yet. Check the article down below folks. Matt tells New York Daily News he's not pleased with the show. However he wants to go on the air and speak in pro favor for Reality Shows? I'm confused? Take a real stand Matt. If you are going to speak, speak for your people. Soares is right, it's not about you! Glen said it best in his article for the NY post. " This is the world we live in - people need to get over themselves. " PROTESTED: Little People of America president Matt Roloff tells New York's Daily News that his Oregon-based organization is not pleased with FOX's upcoming reality show " The Littlest Groom, " which pits average-sized women against little women for the affections of a 23- year-old 4'5 " bachelor named Glen. Roloff fears that if Glen picks an average-sized woman, " the little women will feel inferior. " The show's producer responds that Glen's selection will reflect the sort of choices little people must make in real life. Matt -- If you're bound by a non-disclosure contract, that suggests that you signed something. Why? Dan
Guest guest
Money has a way of making the ouchies a little better. The show will probably be kinda neat in peoples eyes. Matt you are not at fault for this. You know that when life, people, or society give you lemons you make lemonade .....then you sell it for 25 cents a glass, or more. (That's open to negotiation) No one is at fault... human nature will put you in your place sooner or later. It's a sad truth. Everyone wants equal treatment, just some have to fight for it a little harder. I really hope then this show helps peoples view of us . In some oxymoronic sorta way ...maybe.
