I have SEDc. The musical instruments I've played have been,

Recorder, Piano, Guitar and a little bit of the Harp.

It would depend on what your son prefers and HIS abilities. Also

take into consideration of his hands and neck. First his neck may be

much shorter than someone with a different form of dwarfism.

Personally I had great difficulty with a violin and flute because of

the way my neck needed to be positioned.

His hands may be small, but have longer fingers than someone with

another form of dwarfism. Keep in mind that his hands and fingers

most likely will grow as he gets older. He will most likely need

something SMALLER than his peers! (I had a VERY small recorder at

his age)

Another thing to take into consideration, when choosing an

instrument, most people have to take care of their equipment. This

includes, cleaning, carrying, and tuning in some cases.

I still have a child sized guitar. I play the piano on occasion and

my fingers are much longer than when I was 11 years old.

I would strongly encourage you to talk to your son. He is going to

be the one to deal with the instrument and may need to try out a few

different ones before finding out what works best for him.
