THE SHORTIES

TOYS R US is the only toy store carrying them at this time. I read that on a

doll site that I belong to. They are absolutely adorable. They have several

pieces for each, including removing the head and attaching it to another body.

These other bodies are considered a " new outfit " . They have phones, tables,

couches, televisons, a dog who can hold his own bone (magnets), and even a car.

The one with the car has one shortie doll and nothing else. That is $9.99. The

others (3) have the other items and the interchangeable bodies, and they are

$14.99. There is GIA, NIA, and I cannot recall the other two names.

Ok People,

What's all this talk about a dwarf doll that's out there?? So is this

something that is favored, and not something that is making fun of us by

chance?? I'm just asking, and not stating this, for those wanting to attack,

lol. But these dolls are really fashioned after us, or they are sort of like

the Brat Dolls, big heads and small bodies?? Or are they more like a Cabbage

Patch Doll?? Since I have an 11 year old, I don't frequent the Doll Section

of Toys R Us any more, unless the Game Boys are right next to them. So these

are actual dolls that are dwarfish, or are dwarfs?? And please, let's hope

children don't run up to us and try to pull our head off, since these dolls

offer this, lol, ok.

Other than the title of the dolls, I don't see how a child would

associate the dolls with people with dwarfism. I wouldn't be

concerned that " children will run up and try to pull our heads off " .

At a glance, they look like a doll...they actually look like a

copycat of the Bratz dolls, in my opinion. They are just another toy

with a name that is supposed to be cute. Fisher Price has toys

called " Little People " and kids love them. I've never had child come

up to me thinking I was one of those Fisher Price dolls.

You can look at them on www.Amazon.com , look up " Shorties " under

toys and games and you can see what they look like.

Rob, the dolls are only about two inches or so tall. They are quite cute

really. Mandy, who is 23, loves them. I think someone came up with a cute

idea. I really do not think they were meant to offend anyone. They are small

dolls, and Mandy tells me they look achon to her.

This reminds me of something funny my 6 year old said not too long ago -- he is

starting to understand the words " dwarf " and " little people " and recently

learned what Little People of America is. (Although he is 6, we didn't learn

about his dwarfism -- or that it is a form of dwarfism -- until the last year or

so.) He recently asked if we could play the " LPA game " -- I had no idea what he

was talking about, so he told me it was Chutes and Ladders. Sure enough, on the

side of the box, Chutes and Ladders has the tag line " The big game of ups and

downs for little people. "
