I know, but it's not the same as roaming up and down the aisles, reading labels, listening to songs on the headphones, and watching the bright eyes of little kids checking out the new toys. Guest guest
Hi, I have to say that I shop at Target. I love target. Casey can tell you that. Target prices aren't that expensive. There house hold cleaning items are the same price as Walmart, even lower when they are on special. There clothes are better made, and they clearance, all the time on everything. I have bought really nice sheets for $10. So don't count Target out Jen " Did my heart love til now? Guest guest
Late last week, the ADA Project Manager from Walmart called me to discuss the situation. I went over it in great detail and explained how it was just about dwarfs about about anyone with a disability. He commented on how not many people take the time to file the complaints when things happen. Based on what I read on the lists lately, others do have situations and have said something. I guess one has to go higher than the local level to get any sort of response. Local managers will probably just give a rude cashier a talking to and be done with it, they don't want to file paperwork and complaints--it makes them look bad too. Hope everyone has a fabulous Thanksgiving. Barbara

They get the customers whose primary goal is lowest price. We get the customers who seek high quality, variety, custom orders, and personal service. :-) Keep that in mind and communicate it to your customers. I shop at Wal-Mart. Why? Because I am looking for my area's lowest price, and because I can get both household goods and groceries in one place, which helps when I'm in a hurry. There are, however, certain items I don't buy there because I can get the quality standard that I'm willing to pay more for, more choices, or better service, elsewhere. Not everyone, but enough people, and they are among our target market, are willing to pay more for what we offer. Wal-Mart does not offer handmade soap. :-) Beth _www.soapandgarden.com_ (http://www.soapandgarden.com/) www.saponifier.com **************************************Check out AOL's list of 2007's hottest products. Guest guest
Hi Susie and others ~ After you comment I checked out Wal-Mart's soap and lotion spa baskets. You're right, we can't compete with their prices. I also checked and all the basket products are made in China. A lot of people don't trust what is coming out of China these days and that is in our favor at least. Shaye, you really lit up this talk board when you asked where everybody was! Your new table set up looks nice. Glad to hear you had a good show too. I just did a show in a friend's home in Interlaken. About 6 or 7 people brought their crafts. It went very well and we will be doing it again next year. We did do some advertising and handed out fliers and put up posters. In addition to soap for the show I made some twisted wire snow flakes (which didn't sell), made some home made suet balls (sold half of them), some painted birds (sold maybe 3 of those), but the soap did well. The friend's home is a log cabin and nicely rustic inside. It lent itself well to the homemade crafts we displayed. We all shared the advertising expenses (about $20 each). Two more weeks at the Windmill and things will get quiet for me......at least I hope so for a little bit. I feel the need for some down time. I have books I received for Christmas last year that I haven't read yet! And I love to read, it's my escape. We're getting lots of snow here in Waterloo as well. I usually go to an auction in Phelps on Monday nights but didn't go tonight because of the slippery roads and blowing snow. We're supposed to get in the neighborhood of 10 to 12 inches of snow by tomorrow afternoon. Lots of schools closings I'm sure. Well, hope everyone is having some success getting ready for the holidays, without pulling your hair out too much. : ) Good luck to all in that area. Stay warm and safe on the slippery roads.
