Gee, that doesn't sound like Walmart, not my dealings with them. I've

seen people return the darndest things. My only complaint with Walmart is

that they are so strictly non-union. But so many places are now and I find

it a great place to shop. I also can't stand Glass, who is running it

now. He also now owns the Kansas City Royals, baseball team, and I think

there was a dirty deal in there somewhere. He talks out of the side of his

mouth. But I still like to shop at Walmart. Jessie

Oh, thanks Granny I kept your email but I guess I didn't read it

completely and thought it was a walmart store brand. I will pick

it up at target or somewhere. I am on strike against walmart

because I had purchased to bed rest pillows there a few summers

ago...the kind with the arm rests...not a sleeping pillow but still

for the bed. Well one day Ted had been sick in bed and I plumped

up the pillow and felts something really sharp so I went and got

my little manicure scissors and cut a small slit in it and pulled out

a 6 " coat hanger type of metal. It was very sharp at one end and

sort of twisted into a loop almost like 2 pieces connected. Well,

I stood in their return line for 45 minutes with both of these pillows

in a huge black garbage bag and I had Ted with me. After asking to

speak to the assistant mgr., then the co-mgr. then the manager...

I was told ... too bad. They did nothing. Ted could have had an

eye or ear put out or just been hurt by this. I was lucky that he

wasn't. Anyway...I threated him with calling the news team and

I did and he emailed me back that he was interested but then I never

heard anything again.

HI Gail :)

I had a similar experience at our Walmart (we have at least 10 in our city

lol)

There was spilt kiln (???spelling) on the floor (white paint) and it got all

over my new shoes :( when I went to complain they did nothing :( I explained

to them that its very hard to keep up with Sara and see white paint on a

white floor but they just acted like I was a geek to walk in it.

I still shop at Walmart but I do avoid this one Heehee heard yesterday they

are closing this particular store down and building a super Walmart near by.

Kathy mom to Sara 9.............who now looks at the floor carefully when I

walk lol

shopkos, 3 econo foods, 4 hy vees, 1 cub foods, old navy, sport mart (i

think) a couple other stores in that area that I can't think of the names,

a mall with lots of shops including disney store, oh lots and lots of

shopping, this in a city that has a pop. of 80000 or something like that.

Gail, how awful! I don't blame you for boycotting Wal-Mart! You should write

Yes, you should write the corporate offices! Something would be done! Last

week we stopped at Walmart(in SD- it is a super walmart) to get

school supplies and groceries on our way home from the boys getting their

infusions in Souix Falls....and I was following Brady(7w/cp) into the

opening doors when all of a sudden the automatic doors shut on him!!! He

walks using arm crutches anyway, so his balance and speed are not the best!

Anyway... the lady that was the " greeter " freaked! She over the loud speaker

told the manager to get over there, that a small boy on crutches just got

shut in the door!!! When the manager came(not only one but 2 came) he

assured us after making sure Brady was okay for now, that if anything

happened or got worse to take him to the emergency room and " we " will take

care of it all!!!!! COOL!! Other than literally " scaring the " shit " out of

him " , once he came out of the bathroom, he seemed o.k. hehe I love

Walmart....we are in a very rural setting so I appreciate the cheaper prices

even if I have to drive 70 miles to go!!

Okay, so now I will get off my soapbox.

We have a family hardware store that is considered a tourist attraction.

You need it, they have it! They still have wooden drawers filled with

screws, nuts and bolts. In the spring, there are tin buckets full of seeds

that you scoop up, weigh and then purchase. I love to go in there.

Hardware stores are more appealing to me than department stores. Just ask

Tim!

A client of mine had a 600 lbs shelf fall on her shoulder/arm. She is now

unable to use that arm, is in pain constantly, can't work, etc. Gail, I

think we all need to be reminded how dangerous those stores are that stack

heavy things up high. got on the bottom shelf at the grocery store

the other day, crawled behind the large packages of paper towels and then

proceeded to kick them all out on the floor. I had to laugh...lol

We have a Westlake hardware store that is much like that. They have

drawers full of things, etc. and they are very helpful. The other day I

needed to change the battery in a smoke alarm and couldn't get the old one

out. So I took it up there and the first guy I saw helped me get it out and

put the new one in. The best one, I had a belt break on a fan and I took the

belt up there and told the guy I needed a new one like that. He said, " Did

you try Crazy Glue? " I said, " No, I didn't think of that. Do you think it

would work? " and he answered " No, but I'm surprised you didnt try. " But he

found one for me and gave me advice on putting it on. They are the kind of

hdwe store where a woman feels comfortable, and they aren't all like that. I

love to go there. Jessie

Rick,

Sounds like Jan and you are doing great. I am always thinking about her and

saying a special prayer for her and you and your family at church. You are

still a great inspiration to me (well, Jan is). You are like more like a

mentor to me.

What you said about the " special " treatment like at theme parks, etc is very

true. I think that there are times when things get a little tough for

amanda and we need to go more slowly or do less. Whatever it is we try to

have fun. We may get to do less, but we're still together and having a good

time!

Enjoy the season with Jan and your family.

>That is Wal-Mart's generic line.

Did I mention that we're *finally* getting a Wal-Mart around here? They had

the ground breaking about 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately, it's a stone's throw

from Best Buy, in the shadow of Giants stadium. It takes about an hour to

get to that road from here in *good* traffic, darn near impossible when

there's a game at the stadium or the Continental Arena next door (NJ Nets

home).

I suppose I might be able to do it once in a while.

I drove a different route on Sat. and I noticed that yet another Walmart is

going up less than 5 miles from my house. That now makes 6 within my day to

day driving area and another couple in my weekly driving area. Can you say

overkill? This is suburbia bordering on countryside with lots of land still

open but lots of new neighborhoods and shopping centers going up.

I miss Walmart too. I'm from Florida and they have them everywhere.

Oh and they have the super Walmarts with the grocery store inside.

Boy that made life easy. But what hell to shop there during the

holidays.

Miss Target too by the way. They don't have a Walmart in England or a

Target. They have stores alot like Walmart but it doesn't come close

to it.

Oh how I miss Walmart!!!!:(
