Christmas decos and cats

The first two years I lived alone I had an artificial tree about 2 ½ ft tall.

Although I had a biggie boyfriend who became my husband later, we kept the itty

tree because the apt was too small to really enjoy a big tree. Needless to say

our first Christmas in our house several years ago was potentially exciting!

Unfortunately, in late October of that year, while having a new roof put on,

the roofers ended up screwing up and we had $8,000 of water damage done to our

house. Repairs were not done until after the new year and the house was such a

nightmare I didn't even feel like decorating much, so again the faithful little

tree did service.

Little tree even did a fine job of training our cat. When she was young she

loved chewing on electrical cords despite any training I tried to do to get her

to quit. Her second Christmas she snuck up on little tree and before we could

leap off the couch to stop her, did her usual attack on the light cord. There

was a blue flash, then a fluffy gray streak across the apt. I ran to make sure

she was OK. She was on the other side of the apt staring at the tree with HUGE

eyes and every hair on end. She had bitten through one of the cords, so she got

quite a shock, but fortunately not big enough to electrocute her. To this day

(she's 16 years old now) she treats ALL Christmas trees with great respect and

doesn't chew on cords anymore. My husband was ROFL.

Have a great holiday everyone!
