Makes me wonder. I do know that on the disability front, in Montana, our Governor cut money to programs leaving especially folks with brain disorders out in the cold. Thirteen years have passed and I still can't ride my local bus, I can't find a job, and I can't shop anywhere I want. I won't even go into the idea of parking. My local building codes supervisor said they did not enforce new Montana Legislation related to building codes because they use HUD! HUD in business and title two areas? Good grief. The Political World is not the only area that is really out of touch with inclusion and enforcement. I have building owners blaming the people they rent space to and the business owners blaming the land lords. I have local inspectors claiming to know nothing about the ADA and using what they call HUD for guidelines. I have a City Manager who has the entire town set up as a lawsuit in waiting. Family can be just as bad and I assure you, I'll rant on that one another day. Nothing is going to change until we get off our own pitty pots, me included, and start sending complaints to the D. O. Maybe my new years resolution will be to take digital photos, names and addresses and turn them over one by one, maybe setting a quota of two a month, to the DOJ. When I am called and asked why I turned them in I will suggest they paid for an inspection and leave it at that. I can get faster results I hear if I mediate, but I don't think civil rights should be mediated. Maybe you all can change my mind on that. I'm done ranting, I hope it isn't purely political. Guest guest
Save your stamps and envelopes and do it online. While your at it, cc some human rights organizations as close to where you live as possible, and of course keep a copy for yourself. Just a thought.
