My big decoration is a two-foot-tall fake tree. I spent Christmas 1979 (my

fifth) in the hospital, and my parents bought the tree for my room. It's

been part of the family ever since, and I had my mom send it to me when I

moved out here. I keep promising myself I'm going to get another tree and

send this one back to my mom. Doesn't seem to work out that way, though.

As to the decorations for my whole family ... my parents have a few

ornaments for each of the four of us. For Christmas 1982 my mom got sled

ornaments with each of our names on them. We are responsible for putting our

own sled on the tree. I also have a couple of others ... a " bowler " ornament

(given to me when I was active in the youth bowling league) and some of the

little handmade ornaments made in art class when I was a kid. I have to put

them on the tree.

I'm heading home on Tuesday, and although I get home at like 11:00, the

first thing I do when I walk in the house will be to put those ornaments on

the tree. Kind of my way of announcing, " I'm home. "

I have a 6 foot fake tree for the living room. Every year I laugh because

when we pull it out of it's box it looks so much like a Charlie Brown tree

but once it is shaped and decorated it looks much better. I am sure I would

enjoy a live tree more but it would be difficult for me to maintain.

Yesterday I got a little 2 foot tree for my bedroom so I could enjoy the

lights at night when I am in bed. I have quite a few porcelain angels near

the tree and several large gorgeous poinsettias that I was able to get for a

good price at a junior college that has a horticulture program . One is on

the coffee table surrounded by a garland with some picks and candy canes

stuck in it. Then I put some Christmas snowglobes, a plate of Christmas

cookies and a shaped bucket containing chocolate bells around that. My

nativity scene is on another table nearby and has some porcelain nativity

pieces around it. we also added a stuffed snowman sitting on the porch

railing. He is really cute and gets lit up by the porch light. I wanted to

add some outside lights this year but they are so difficult to put up and

take down that I didn't. Maybe I can do that next year. I sure enjoy

seeing other peoples yards that are all decorated.

I was wondering how people on the list decorate for the holidays be it for

Christmas or Hanukkah? Meaning Christmas for example do you have a small

tree,

or a big tree? I have about 3 artificial trees one is 5', 3' and one is a

tabletop.

Not that I'm Ms. Grinch ;-0, but I usually put out the tabletop because of

my

cat Jade getting into the other ones. I prefer blinking lights over

stationery and chasers and love plenty of ornaments, manager scene

underneath, along

with stockings and a wreath on the door and lights around the window. So

far I

have gotten the wreath on the door. ;-)

When I lived with my parents we had a 4ft fake tree decorated to the

9's. Now at my grandma's house we have a real 6 foot tree. I

couldn't tell ya what type because I am bad at tree types.

I will be moving out in a few months into my first apt. For my apt

I would like a fake 4 or 5 foot WHITE yes you heard it! White

Christmas tree. I love blue so I am going to decorate it with blue

oranament balls and silver ornament balls then get some smaller gold

balls. I will either have blue lights for the tree or have

multicolored lights but have blue garland. As you can tell I love

blue!!! I might have some cutesy lil ornaments but majority will be

shiney balls of blue, gold, and silver which will show up great on

white! I know it sounds unique but so am I! :)

Well, every year, I bring out the Christmas albums (music) and

cassettes and CDs. The albums are from when I was a kid-ny

Mathis, Nat King Cole, , and some with various artists.

Cannot get good old stuff on CDs. These bring so many memories of my

best Christmas's when I was a kid.

Also, I put candoliers up in the windows, hang up holiday towels in

the kitchen and bathroom-(red and green). Even Christmas print paper

towels and paper napkins-LOL.

Christmas scent potpourri, candles on tables, a tabletop church with

a little light inside which shows through the 'stain glass windows'

made of paper. My manger scene also on top of a table.

I wanted a large tree this year, but I have 2 hyper cats which I

inherited and they may try to climb and investigate it, so have to

wait on that.

Baking some things tonite, but thats about it.

I think they should bring back albumns. I not only think the sound is better

love the design of the albumn covers. I have in my Christmas collection The

Partidge Family which like with Dawn brings back memories of my Christmas

past. I also love listening to the Carpenters, Sinatra, Como. I

have this stuffed Rudolph Reindeer which plays Christmas tunes and his nose

lights up. I also have this Frosty the Snowman music box which plays Frosty.

What also brings me in the Christmas mood is watching some of the Christmas

specials. I love watching Charlie Brown, The Little Drummer Boy, Mr. Magoo,

The Scrooge with C. . I would also like to hunt up any more

Holiday specials that they used to show on tv back in the late sixties and back

in

the seventies which they don't seem to show anymore.

Maybe after Christmas if I'm brave enough to check out for After Christmas

specials

;-) see if they have any neat vintage Christmas villages, mangers.
