Hi,

I wanted to introduce myself. I had bilateral total knee replacements a

few weeks ago. To be precise, it will be 6 weeks tomorrow. I have been

feeling down and depressed and decided to seek out help on the internet.

I searched for support groups and I found 2 - this group being one. I'm

a member of a few other groups regarding a previous surgery of mine, so

I was hoping I would find something to help me thru this process.

Everyone (medical personnel, friends, etc.) are telling me that I'm

doing great, but I don't " feel " it. It's been so tough physically and

emotionally. I've been doing everything I've been told to do in order

to get well, but I think I'm too impatient. I really need to get back

to work soon (like in 3 weeks) and if I don't get better quickly I'm not

sure I'll be able to meet my goal.

I was in the hospital from a Tuesday to a Saturday and then I was moved

to a rehab facility and stayed there from Saturday until being released

the following Friday. It was a positive experience. I do my exercises

at home - I've been asked to do them twice a day except on rehab days

and then I only have to do them once at home. I go to outpatient

therapy 2 days a week.

I guess I'm just hoping someone will be able to encourage me I will get

better and it will be worth it because right now I'm not feeling that

way. I'm not at the point where I'm happy I had the surgery yet. I

almost feel like I'll never be normal again or walk normal. I keep

asking everyone to give me rough estimates on when I can expect to feel

better and of course, they all say it various from person to person. I

know that, but it's still frustrating to me!

Here's hoping for some positive responses.

PS: BTW, I " m 49 in case anyone is interested.
