I only see the active ingredients budesonide and eformoterol and the inactive ingredient lactose listed for a Symbicort Turbuhaler. If ethylene glycol is an inactive ingredient, it should be OK since it is not metabolized to EtOH or EtG. But BE VERY CAREFUL with the new albuterol-HFA inhalers -- both Proair-HFA and Proventil-HFA contain ethanol. In fact, a pharmacist in my support group just had another positive test, the day after she filled her new Rx for Proair!

I use flonase daily, it also has a small amount of alcohol in it. The times

that I have tested EtG, it had no impact apparently - at least I didn't get the

call.

I wish my doctor would let me have a flu shot at the same time I get

my xolair. It would save me a 22 mile round trip. He will not even

let me have a regular allergy shot unless it is one full day away from

my xolair. I don't mind him being so picky. The man has me breathing

like a normal person ))

He tried me on Symbicort also because he thought the Advair was

causing my voice to get raspy. It was ok, but I stayed with the

Advair. I had 6 full unopened disks left and was not about to throw

that kind of money in the trash. I still have 3 more to go.

I might try the Symbicort next time I need a refill on the Advair.

this e-mail echoes me, except you're lucky only 22 miles round trip, I am 70

miles round trip

I have noticed since the s-cort my voice is not as raspy. It was getting to be

an annoyance.

I did get the flu shot. That was a positive.

Since the s-cort and the xolair twice a month, I no longer have the real tight

feeling around my chest. It is still there but not as much where it was getting

scary.

Before I moved to this area, I drove 250 miles round trip from a small

town in Southeast Arkansas to Little Rock. The 22 miles I drive now

are much easier!

I was the first patient in the Little Rock clinic (and in the state)

to get xolair. They did not make me wait after the shots or charge me

to administer them. My, how things have changed in 4 short years LOL!

The reason few docs will give more than one of allergy

shots/Xolair/flu shots in one day is the one Joy gave to her doc.

It's not that anyone expects any worse reaction necessarily but

rather that if you have a systemic reaction, how on earth would you

know which one you reacted to? My 2 cents...Fran

I got my xolair shot today and while I was waiting my 30 minutes, a six year was

sitting beside me. He is getting xolair--300 mg 2 X a month! And the nurse

told me they have a little 3 year old whose asthma was so bad that she agreed to

let the clinic use her as a test case. She is getting very small doses (the

nurse didn't say how much or how often) and has begun to show a slight

improvement! The mother of the six year old said that xolair had really turned

her son's asthma around. She was so glad for it!

Wow! Just had to share that.

Oops--I should have said the Mother of the three year old had agreed to let them

give xolair to the little girl as a trial since her asthma/allergies were so

bad.
