Guest guest
When I was in hospital rehab after THR we were strongly advised to take our pain meds before he showed up for therapy. >>> The hospital advised me of the same but I perfered taking them after PT was over~ least you could rest for a lil while before they sent someone else in doing something else to ya. LOL I have a pretty high tolerance for pain though... the med issue is like healing~ everyone kinda has to do what works best for them. First time around I was on pain killers/muscle relaxers for nearly 10 full months~ due to severe leg spasms over my LLD correction. I didn't use them but a couple days outta 2 wks after the revisions though. I've still got pain killers available to me & patches but only use them on an as needed basis~ which pretty much is only on my "bad combination days".... like cleaning the house, doing 3 loads of laundry, the breakfast/dinner fixing deal & their dish follow ups, running store for the short notice listings (you ALWAYS seem to have cross your path when your actually TOO busy to squeeze it in the days doings), picking up the kids from school, then on to daughters band concert which lasts 3 hrs. followed by son's football awards banquent~ which I might add was "bring a dessert dish".... THOSE kind of days.... I'm usually ending with 2 pain killers & a muscle relaxer chased down by a glass of water~ cranking up my tens unit.... before crawling into bed for a MUCH NEEDED night and probably next day of recovery. Some can do more taking their meds ahead of time while others like myself just perfer doing it knowing relief will come. LOL I say do what works for you~ but don't be ashamed to take meds if you need them.

Which has caused more problems. Eventually everything will work out. I just messaged you in aol....my signature is cuzluv4us on aol instant messenger, because my daughter had cuzluv4u so I just added an s! So, if you got a message it was from me! Hi, I ignored your IM because I've been getting all of these weirdos IM ing me lately. Wish I would have known that it was you. I usually have my block on anyway, but I would talk to you. Sorry. My right foot hurt like crazy before I got my right knee fixed. It hurt on the side because I would turn my foot out to make my knee not hurt. I'll try to remember your IM name. Like you said, eventually everything will work out, but I'm a pessimist. My husband says I see the glass half empty and he sees it half full, with another pitcher coming. I'm so impatient for it to get better now and I will have 2 decent legs. Later,

Guest guest
Hi Sassy Lou, Glad to have you back :-) I'm Susie the one with the sore on my leg the sore is healed >>> Hey ya Susie... thanks for the warm welcome back I've not been gone too far~ learking with lack of time to actually post is more like it. I've missed you all.... and I couldn't forget about ya. Your the buddy I've had prayers to resolve the daughter / grandson issues over. I sure hope things are going better for you about that issue... and if not yet~ I'm sure time will heal the wound that's created the distance between you & it'll get better. Just keep saying your prayers. I hate hearing that your still having a time with your leg. Hope how soon that fixes itself and isn't a brother to you any longer. Don't think I'd mess with the treadmill either if I were you.... least for awhile. Maybe if the weather breaks you can get out & about in the yard and do some gardening or something for activity instead ? I worked on my flower beds today and got pooped~ either I need to down size my beds or I've wasted too much time locked up with winter weather and need to get back to kicking again! Helps to keep my mind off things though... and I certainly do enjoy my flowers.... my daffodils, daisies, tulips, & daylilies are all breaking the ground~ won't be much longer and they'll be in full bloom THANK GOODNESS... I'm bout sick of this muddy, cold & gloomy days! Be nice having something pretty to look at again. I've been busy tied up in "kid doings"... son has been running me ragged with ball practice for up coming football season.... and my girl has had a time with her leg lately too. She fell 3 wks ago skating~ long story short of it... her knee cap shifted in the fall. Although the x~rays didn't show anything broke & they deamed it a "bad sprain" & said she had a pulled tendon... she's been having a time with it. She can't put any weight on it... and says it feels like somethings cutting her on the inside & burns. I can't figure it out... she had a blue knot which swelled out on the front side of her knee the day it happened and lasted about 4 days.... then turned to a nice sized blue/green/purple bruise about the size of your fist. But... the same time frame that disappeared on the front of her leg... she had a black place show up in the bend of her knee on the back side~ which wasn't there on the initial injury date. She can't bend her leg without crying... and can't sleep with the pain WHICH THEY GIVE HER NOTHING FOR! Grrrr~ I took her back today... now their saying she might have additional damanage the x~ray didn't show and scheduled her for an MRI next week. Told her to stop wearing the brace they'd give her and to continue with no weight baring... and put her on pain killers / anti-flammatory drugs. I don't know what to do for her... she's miserable! Been trying to plan a "home coming party" on top of it all for my cousin who's soon to be home on military leave from Japan. It's just been one thing after another around here.... plus I quit smoking again & turned 36 within days of one another. Probably will be right back at puffin with all the crap happening around here these days. LOL I certainly didn't pick a "NON~stressful" time to do it. <giggling> I think I need a vacation! Take care of yourself and walk well my friend~

Well you have a nice day and take one day at a time Susie Hi Susie, yeah all of the Drs. didn't want to touch me because they said that I was too young and my joint would wear out before the rest of me. The Arthroscopic surgeries where right at the start and they make 3 little incisions in your knee and go in and look around and clean anything out or smooth anything out that they can. I had 2 of those. The first one helped for about 10 years and the 2nd was a waste of time and pain.
Guest guest
Hi Sassy Lou, Glad to have you back :-) I'm Susie the one with the sore on my leg the sore is healed but the skin keeps growing new skin and when the old skin comes off it hurts I'm using this lotion called Lubriderm this lotion helps a lot , It hurts the most by my ankle and the top of my foot and my foot swelled up my dr says it ok and gave me Generic for Darvocet 100 take every six hours I suppose to take them every six hours but I'm only taking them two times a day .I think the reason my foot swell up was for two days I tried walking on the treadmill for two days real slow not even ten minuets . I won't do that again until my leg heals up .At least the swelling going down . Well you take care and have a nice day. Susie -------------- Original message -------------- From: SassyLouYou@... Guest guest
Hey , I can sympathize with you and the being cooped up thing. I had RTKR 9-31-05 and LTKR 02 18-06 and was bed/home bound until just this last monday due to complications. It was driving me crazy. I used to love my bed now it is the "enemy" My muscles are so weak that PT is torture but necessary. I am afraid to take my pain meds before I go as they make me a little groggy and I don't want to drive on them. I can't drive my own car (it is a stick shift) so have to drive my hubby's old clunker (automatic shift) which drives me nuts too. Hang in there and if you want an e-mail buddy to help pass the time let me know I am on disability and have nothing to do except sleep watch the "Judge" shows on tv and play o n the computer. Love Contessa -- just talk to me I just need someone to talk to to pass the time until I'm able to drive and this thing stops hurting a bit more. I had one TKR on Nov 2 and the 2nd one on Feb 2, so that's like 2 1/2 weeks ago. I just got my staples out and took my first whole shower, it was great! I also had a spinal fusion in April of last year, so you see I need to find something to do in this in between phase, I guess you would say, to help me not get depressed cause I wanna do so much, but I can't yet. I've been down for so long, I'm just really sick of dealing with it and it's not getting better fast enough to make me happy. Going to physical therapy is the highlight of my week. Thanks,
Guest guest
Hi Sweetie, I had a arthroscopic surgery the non invasive way about 6 years ago on my left knee and then had TKR a month ago on the same knee. The arthroscopic surgery helped a little but not much then I lost 200 lbs and that helped for awhile but by then it was bone on bone and I really needed the TKR. I am currently recouping from the TKR Had the right one done last sept and am looking forward to dancing at hubbys 50th reunion next sept. LOL I have just started out pt Phys Therapy this last monday due to a stupid setback I did to myself. So my progress is a little slow but I am getting there. anyway I just wanted to answer your question about Arthroscopic Surgery and TKR's.
