Surgery Date 3/15/06 with Dr. De Smet

Hello All

I have been reading posts on this group and the surface hippie group for about 3 months. I have decided to go with a hip resurfacing with Dr. De Smet on March 15, 2006. I originally thought about getting a THR since I could get it almost free in Columbus OH. But I use to be very active and have 16 dogs. I am bending and getting on the floor, etc all the time. So I really wanted to be resurfaced if possible. We are going to go into credit card debt up to our ears- but I think it will be worth it.

I will continue to read the posts here too becasue I have learned from both groups. And no matter whether you go THR or resurfacing - you are really getting sliced and diced. I am sure it hurts just as much both ways. Really major surgery where you want the best doctor you can get.

I have changed my mind several times and even made a date for THR. But since I am 61 and can still get a hip resurfaicng, I felt it was the way to go. I will probably end up with a THR if I am lucky enough to live a long life. Who knows at 70, 75 or 80 I may be here saying I am going in for a THR since the BRH has worn out!!!!! Odds are - I will have to be redone at some point in my life.

I will still be reading and learning. Thanks for all the information that I have received.
