So was I a few months ago. You will learn a lot reading the posts from this group and the surfacehpppy group at . There is a difference between total hip replacement and hip resurfacing. You can read emails about hip resurfacing at the surfacehippy group. They have many links there about the proceedure on their home page, just as this group does. Many of the people read and write on both groups.

In my pursuit to find out all kinds of information, I made up a basic website about resurfacing and some info about THR Here is the link

http://www.sixdogstudio.com/hippy/hippyindex.htm

Check out the links page and you will find many places to read and find out much more information.

Ask lots of questions of both groups. There are very knowledgable people in both.

Good Luck

Pat

Surgery Date 3/15/06 with Dr. De Smet Hello All I have been reading posts on this group and the surface hippie group for about 3 months. I have decided to go with a hip resurfacing with Dr. De Smet on March 15, 2006. I originally thought about getting a THR since I could get it almost free in Columbus OH. But I use to be very active and have 16 dogs. I am bending and getting on the floor, etc all the time. So I really wanted to be resurfaced if possible. We are going to go into credit card debt up to our ears- but I think it will be worth it. I will continue to read the posts here too becasue I have learned from both groups. And no matter whether you go THR or resurfacing - you are really getting sliced and diced. I am sure it hurts just as much both ways. Really major surgery where you want the best doctor you can get. I have changed my mind several times and even made a date for THR. But since I am 61 and can still get a hip resurfaicng, I felt it was the way to go. I will probably end up with a THR if I am lucky enough to live a long life. Who knows at 70, 75 or 80 I may be here saying I am going in for a THR since the BRH has worn out!!!!! Odds are - I will have to be redone at some point in my life. I will still be reading and learning. Thanks for all the information that I have received. Aussie Margaret - I hope you can get your Lemon Fixed Up soon. Life is not very fair sometimes. Pat

Hi Pat

Great Website

but I must point out that one of your links apparently to

& Nephew is in fact the link to the Corin Medical Company;

The link to Midland Medical actually takes you to the smith & nephew group and

not to

Midland.

Best Wishes
