Guest guest
Hi Eleanor. It sounds like you're having a rough go of it. 2400 mg. Ibuprofen is the max allowable per day, as you probably know. You might consider picking up some Milk Thistle, in the herbs department of most super stores, and take the recommended dose. It's the only thing known to really help the liver function, and I started on it years ago, when pain dictated lots of ibuprofen. So far, so good - my liver functions are fine. I do try to avoid anything else that might stress it though. About a second opinion. From what I've read here in the last couple of months, you're not the only person who can't get a second doc. Unfortunately, I imagine this is standard. However, you are certainly within your rights to write a report to the local medical board and the state medical board and the hospital and whoever else you can think of! Sounds like bad practice, if not malpractice. Do you have insurance? Can you talk to the insurance company and ask advice? Like the motto for the list - "
Guest guest
That's a lot of Ibuprofren. It's hard on our kidneys too, drink lots of water. Also there are some doctors that say Ibuprofren causes further damage to our bones. Who knows, it's what worked for me so I took it but not at that high of a dose. Guest guest
Hi Eleanor, My hubby pressured me into not taking ibrufen. His reason? He says they are known for slowing down bone healing. With that in mind maybe you will have to give yourself a little more time. I'm not fully convinced, but as the dose needed was far more than I had been prescribed I cut it out. I only take it now when I want to show off (like wanting to attend a party without a walking stick) or when I know I will be absolutely unable to do my job without it. I must admit though that sometimes I catch myself thinking " They shoot horses don't they! " This group has been very supportive at times like that. Some message me on , some email and in general remind me that tomorrow is a new day. Good luck with finding a solution to your problem.
