Guest guest
Hello Everyone, For all you TKR's out there. I just had a great day. Only 6-months after my double TKR, I spent 6-hours yesterday strolling around the N.Y.C. Auto Show with only minimal to moderate discomfort at the very end. When I got home, only one pain killer got me through the rest of the day and night. I can't ever remember being so comfortable at the Auto Show before. I thought I'd let all you other TKR's know just how good it gets as time goes on. I can't wait to see how this feels in another 6-months. HAPPY EASTER everyone, and HAPPY PASSOWVER to everyone else. Guest guest
Thanks for the future outlook. I'm three months out and still having some stiffness and lack of ROM. But I have to say I walked two egg hunts this past weekend with my son and didn't have trouble. I was even able to walk uneven ground with no pain or stress to the knee. Everyone there (people who know me and my OS) said how well I was walking. He was pretty proud (it was his egg hunt for kids) and kept telling people "look at that bend." I had my follow-up with him (I had the surgery 500 miles from home) and he said unless something happens, he doesn't need to see me again as it's going so well. -----Original Message-----From: Joint Replacement [mailto:Joint Replacement ]On Behalf Of mbwebmanSent: Monday, April 09, 2007 12:02 PMJoint Replacement Subject: This IS NICE Hello Everyone,For all you TKR's out there. Guest guest
I think that when you are happy and you know it you are twice blessed. Alan, you are twice blessed as are many who have total joint replacements. You don't realise the pleasure of walking until you have had a time when you can't walk. Gaining the ability to walk again makes walking 10 times more valuable than before. Guest guest
That's so interesting, Margaret. I will give it a shot and let you know how it goes. Guest guest
Margaret is right. Or at least it works for me. I've been taking weekend naps. And I'm much more relaxed and sleep better at night on the days I nap. Being overtired and wound up is what keeps me awake. I Risener <mariaelisa64@...> wrote: That's so interesting, Margaret. Guest guest
OK, I've only done this once before but a very good friend sent this to me during a rough time in HER life. Her husband isn't well and he is so young (only 36). I just thought I'd share with all of you. Hope you don't mind. What do Angels Look Like? Like the little old lady who returned your wallet yesterday. Like the taxi driver who told you that your eyes light up the world, when you smile. Like the small child who showed you the wonder in simple things. Like the poor man who offered to share his lunch with you. Like the rich man who showed you it really is all possible, if only you believe. Like the stranger who just happened to come along, when you had lost your way. Like the friend who touched your heart, when you didn't think you had one left to touch. Angels come in all sizes and shapes, All ages and skin types. Some with freckles, some with dimples, some with wrinkles, some without. They come disguised as friends, enemies, teachers, students, lovers and fools. They don't take life too seriously, They travel light. They leave no forwarding address, They ask for nothing in return. They wear sneakers with gossamer wings, They get a deal on dry cleaning. They are hard to find when your eyes are closed, But They are everywhere you look when you choose to see Take care and be well. Guest guest
Thank you very much for this material. It is more than nice. It made me smile and changed my life philosophy in positive direction of course. I intend to write it on a sheet of paper and put it in my bath next to the mirror so it would remind me to think positively every morning and evening. Guest guest
> Viki: If I may suggest giving yourself a YAY for the little things you do is a tremendous help toward positive living. Let me explain. Little things you might take for granted such as brushing your teeth or getting dressed deserve a little " YAY " because it's something you've accomplished. It gives you positive feedback to yourself and is uplifting to know you've validated yourself. This is something I've taught my sister who fights depression on a daily basis and has seemed to help. I realize it probably sounds silly and will, in all likelihood, feel a little uncomfortable at first but it's also been a great help to me. Take care and be well.
