Guest guest
HI Friends, Well mom had her hip done today. Doctor said everything went well just bad arthritis. She actually felt really good after surgery, she had a spinal. She later ate some Jello and ice chips, did well with that and then after a few hours tried another jello which made her nauseous. No hip pain, which is something. Must be the spinal... She also had a bad headache and felt worse a little later. She was shaking and they tested her blood and said she was a little anemic. So they started giving her the two pints of her blood that she donated. The shaking stopped. But, her temp. was slowly rising. Is that normal? They gave her some tylenol and tomorrow they will get her up out of bed. Her temp was 100.8 I will update soon and let you know how the first day of getting around on that new hip went,. Thanks for the prayers, keep them coming. Love, Chris _________________________________________________________________ FREE pop-up blocking with the new MSN Toolbar – get it now! http://toolbar.msn.click-url.com/go/onm00200415ave/direct/01/

Guest guest
Whoops - did I get it wrong? If so, my apologies! I somehow assumed that was a boy's name - didn't occur to me it was also a girl's name! Sorry - which are you? Guest guest
Hi It sounds like your mom went through surgery ok. Spinals sometimes cause headaches. Also it's normal to run an elevated temp after the surgery. My temp was running between 100 and 101.5 for three days. I was told my body was getting used to a foreign object... the prosthesis. I'll keep her in my prayers. Marley
Guest guest
74 yr old male here. I had similar fever for a few days after surgery and leg, knee, ankl;e swelliong. Tthe doc will most probably have her on IV antibiotics for a few days. Nausea is common, have mom tell nurses, they have pills and shots that work. Will keep your mom in prayer. In a coupple days she should perk up then maybe go thru some depression for a short period. When she stands up (with assistance of course, tell her how great she is doing.) Anything encouraging is always good for a senior citizen at a time of surgery. ben RE: Mom's surgery today > HI Friends, > Well mom had her hip done today. I had similar fever for a few days after surgery andleg, knee, ankl;e swelliong. _____ A low grade fever is probably related to the inflamitory reaction that's going on in the operated leg as it starts to try to heal itself. Tell her to get moving with the low intensity exercises she can, like ankle pumps, quad sets, glut sets, to get the muscles helping pump excess fluid from the area. Ice should help..... When she gets moving around better, this will noticibly improve day by day. y
