Guest guest
Hello everyone, it is great to see so many people putting up positive messages regarding their hip replacements, so I thought I would add one. Yesterday I was 7 weeks post-op and I attended my 1st yoga class after my surgery. I was nervous and needed to modify quite a bit, but my muscles have been yearning for a good stretch after all these weeks of restrictions and exercises with little flexibility for stretching. Anyway, I know it is going to take some time to regain my strength and flexibility, however, I am hopeful that I will get it back. Also, does anyone have any good recommendations for scar creams or vitamins to put on the incision site now that it is healed? Thanks to all, and have a great day! - :-)
Guest guest
Hey Susie, I am 36 yrs old. I am still hoping that doing my THR at this point in my life was the right decision. I was born with hip dysplasia and have lived most of my life with varying degrees of pain and mobility. I suppose I took a risk, but I am hoping that I will be able to do some activities with my children without just having to watch and never participate. I took up yoga after my daughter was born 4 years ago. I wasn't able to walk, just getting around the house was difficult enough, I found myself measuring how many steps to do each task, how many times I would need to get into the pantry to make a meal, etc. The yoga is coordinated breathing and stretching. I found that by doing these ancient poses and holding them that I strengthened muscles that had long since had exercise. I went to some classes and also I borrow videos from my library to alternate. Now I know enough that I can create my own yoga practice at home. It involves a lot of bending, stretching, and meditation, but also concentrating on your breath and I found that all of my yoga practice helped me tremendously prior and post surgery. It's great to hear that you quit smoking, I wish you all the best with that. I know it must take a great deal of willpower and determination (though I have never smoked, but my sister does and my kids are forever trying to get her to quit). Anyway, thanks for the tip regarding the vaseline with vitamin E. I'll try it! Anyway, I've got to go, my little ones are starving all of a sudden, I think my son is growing again (he's 7 1/2). Keep thinking positive, talk to you soon. - :-) > Hi , > Well I'm happy to hear your doing so well could I asked you a question what do you do in Yoga? How old are you ? Do you smoke I quit three months ago and its still hard I won't go back because they cost too much money and not good for your Health , My PT told me to use Vaseine lotion with vitamin E that help me my scar I had for five years I had 38 staples so the cream didn't do me much good LOL LOL I feel better talking to differant people I'm one of the people that didn't do to good after the Hip replacement I wish I had people to talk to before the operation I quit smoking so I hoping this will help me feel better right now I still working on not smoking . Well you have a good day > juneflower 60 or Susie > > Hello everyone, it is great to see so many people putting up positive > messages regarding their hip replacements, so I thought I would add > one.
