THANK YOU DR. TUNICK!!! Colleagues we need more emails to Mr. Bruyns supporting the disclosure and signature lines for Form 3283 and Form 801 which will validate that the employer actually had a conversation with the injured worker explaining to them their treatment rights…….. Vern SAboe From: Bruyns Fred H [mailto:fred.h.bruyns@...] Sent: Friday, September 09, 2011 10:22 AM' Tunick'Cc: Schmelling P; Bruyns Fred H; Sewart ; Welty E; McNickle Mike D; ston Nanci J; Vern SaboeSubject: RE: Workers Compensation Dear Dr. Tunick: Thank you for taking the time to provide advice on this important issue. As you may know, an advisory committee discussed this issue on Tuesday (9/6), and I asked the committee members to send us advice by the end of September. Therefore, we have your advice in time to share it with our administration – it will receive careful consideration. I will send you a summary of the advisory meeting within a few days. From: Tunick [mailto:jtunick46@...] Sent: Friday, September 09, 2011 9:07 AMFred.H.Bruyns@...Cc: Vern SaboeSubject: Workers Compensation Dear Mr. Bruyns: I am writing to request that workers in the state of Oregon be informed of their choices when injured. Dr Vern Saboe has proposed adding a line to the 801 form as well as to the 3283 form (with a disclosure statement and signature line) letting the worker know that they have options in where they may seek care after sustaining a work related injury.Having this discussion with the worker can save the system significant money in lost time from work and surgery that might not have been necessary if the worker knew alternatives such as chiropractic care was available for the treatment of their work related injuries. Our clinic frequently provides chiropractic care to patients who have been injured on the job and were directed by an employer to an occupational medicine facility. Many of these patients undergo unsuccessful back surgeries at significant cost, only to find out about our services after the fact. As a specialty clinic dealing with significant lower back and leg pain, nearly half of our patient load are patients with failed back surgeries. In most of these cases we are able to help these people regain their health and return to their former work duties. It is economically devastating when one considers not only the loss of time and disability that these people incur, but the incredibly high costs of surgical intervention and the recovery period that must follow. These patients deserve a chance to pursue more conservative methods that provide them an opportunity to recover while at the same time lessening the economic burden to our society.I respectively request that both above mentioned forms be amended.Dr. K.
