I would love to know the answer to this also. I had no drains after a double TKR. Neither did I have any bloody dressing. They took a clean one off each day. A nurse told me my OS used a new procedureand my results were amazing. He didn't mention that to me pre-op. I'll ask him about this when I see him Thursday. I'll report back. Perhaps someone else knows about this?Shirley Garrison <sashaw11@...> wrote: I would like to know much drainage that everyone had with their TKR.Out of the 3 surgery this year the last

I sure had a lot of drainage after my arthroscopy. I went in

the next day and the dressing was soaked. I would have

changed it at home but didn't have anything large enough

and they didn't send extra home with me.

I also didn't have drainage after the drain tube

was removed when I left the hospital.

I had some up until about 2 weeks after the surgery. It happened

where an old scar and the new incision met - apparently, it was harder to

heal around the scar tissue. It wasn't bad; certainly didn't soak

whole dressings. My doc was not at all worried about it, although

he kept me on antibiotics longer than usual because of it.

I had no drainage either time. Very dry clean surgical incision.

Yep, the hose in my knees hurt quite a bit coming out, but the one that I had in my back felt like a garden hose.

When they removed the drain from my back

surgery I saw stars but it was nothing compared

to the one in my shin, for the bone

harvest. I swear that one was 10 feet (3 meters) long!

I can believe it! Anything on your shin hurts like crazy.
