Guest guest
Tell the place where you give the blood, they are used to this and will do all they can to help you. I gave blood (3 collections), the first time my blood count nearly made them refuse, the second it was lower and I was told they would not do it again unless my blood count was better, the last time my count was higher than the first time, but the blood wouldn't flow. Such is life. Aussie Margaret they scheduled me > > > Well, the Surgeon's office called today and I'm scheduled for March 21. > Now I'm really scared. LOL Thanx, Judy I didn't have to donate blood for my knee surgery, but when I had back surgery in April they wanted 2 pints. They let you lay down to donate , but that stuff doesn't really bother me. I had a spinal fusion, because I had a slipped disc. Between my knees and my back, it was horrible. Anyway, my back has screws in it now. I don't know but I think that my knees made my back worse. I know that my back made my knees worse. I cannot wait to get this other one done. If they called me tomorrow and said come in, I would be there ASAP. I am on a cancellation list, but it probably won't happen. I'm going to get packed just in case though
Guest guest
My surgeon has discontinued blood donation as he felt he was not using it often enough to justify the extra expense. Guest guest
My doctor told me not to donate my own blood because I'm past 70, and he wouldn't want to be concerned about anemia. I'm not sure what age has to do with it, but I follow what my doctor says. Has anyone else had experience with blood donation? Guest guest
I was 69 but they suggested that I donate blood before my RTHR last April. I too have an almost pathological horror of donating blood (and am a fainter) so I begged off. I am not proud of it but they accepted the situation and went ahead with the operation. I have had no ill effects. Colin > In a message dated 1/3/2006 6:50:49 P.M. Central Standard Time, judywade109@e... writes: > > Well, the Surgeon's office called today and I'm scheduled for March 21. Guest guest
I gave two units of blood for my bilateral knee replacements - and both were given back to me the day after surgery. > > > In a message dated 1/3/2006 6:50:49 P.M.
