Guest guest
My primary was done in 1990 (I was 39), revision done in 2004 >>> My actual THR was done June 2003 at 33, first revision July 2004, second done Jan 2005. I actually healed faster after my revisions verse the primary surgery. Although my THR still isn't what it should've been because my body obviously likes doing it's own thing and that not being what it should~ at least I'm now classified "stable" and my pain has decreased from pre-op status, although life isn't "pain-free" per say.... it's better then it once was & still good~ just different. Guest guest
Hi Margaret, I was telling my neice how my fake hip still hurt she said that maybe the dr didn't get all the Arthritis out of the bone that the fake part is connected to and thats way we still feel pain you think that could have happen ? I found a new thing to put lotion on the foot that I can't reach because of my operation I can't pick my leg up the way I can pick the leg that I didn't have the operations on . Its on a long wooden stick and its made of this stuff that feels like leather It really works good and you can use it to put lotion on your back. I don't know if I told you I had a spine x-ray and I found out I have bad Arthrisit in my spine . Haveing that makes it hard to walk right and gives you pain. Did you ever have a spine x-ray? Well I hope your feeling better and have a nice day. Susie --------- Re: Revision of Hip> Glad you are doing well. Guest guest
Hi Susie, I know it is a bit of a problem working out where the pain is really coming from when you have pain. Sometimes the body does things, so you have a sore back and you get pain in your hip. It is called referred pain. I know it sounds silly, but there is such a thing. I remember the doctor was pretty sure my knee would stop giving me problems after I had my hip fixed up. I thought he was crazy, but he was right. And my knee pain is back again now. In November the physio was very concerned at the way I was walking. He felt I was doing damage to my back every time I walked. Maybe he thinks the pain in my hip is coming from my spine. Maybe that is why he made me promise to walk with the walking stick until I see the surgeon again in February. You know the thing that really annoys me about all this? I'd been in pain and distress for 15 months in November, but it is ok to wait another 3 months before something is done. Even the physio tried to get them to bring the appointment forward without success. In April 2002 I was told I needed the revision, 2 and a half years later I finally had the revision (hospital stuff ups and waiting lists), then the last 17 months I have lived with the aftermath. I'm sick of thinking about my hip, I'm sick of putting my life on hold because of it. I want to get back to living. Aussie Margaret Re: Revision of Hip > > >> Glad you are doing well. Guest guest
Hi Margaret, I been liked this since I had my Hip replacement done I just wanted my knee done and let him talked me into having my hip done first and that was a big mistake I was never the same since I had that replacement done I think my knee I could live with if I didn't have my hip done. This happen 6 years ago in April . I went to the dr that did the operation he said I had bad scar tissues sometimes I think he didn't know what was wrong . I went to this other dr and he told me I had bursitis in my new hip and that I never could understand. Well you take care and have a nice day. I just wanted to tell you this Hand game I play its a electronic hand game its called Yahtzee . Did you ever hear of it ? Its a lot of fun . and it takes your mind off of your pain for awhile. Guest guest
Hi Susie, I have never seen the electronic version of yatzee but have played it using dice. It is something I played with students who didn't speak english, as it put us all on an equal footing. Have a good day Aussie Margaret Re: Re: Revision of Hip > Hi Margaret, > I been liked this since I had my Hip replacement done I just wanted my > knee done and let him talked me into having my hip done first and that was > a big mistake I was never the same since I had that replacement done I > think my knee I could live with if I didn't have my hip done.
