Guest guest
I forgot to add the following to my post regarding pain in my THR hip 1 year after a successful surgery: The hip joint may or may not seem to disjoint itself a bit when I move it a certain way (it's hard to tell for sure with all that pain), and, strangely enough, the pain seems to diminish the more I walk on the hip. This poses a problem, because the unoperated-on hip, which needs an operation that I am not likely to get in the near future (doctor obsessed with x-ray presentation, not pain), hurts more the more I walk. If I could only figure out a way to walk with only one leg that didn't involve hopping...Also, the THR leg seems to be turned inward a tiny bit, although that could just be a bad habit I've acquired over the past few months. Obviously, the hip can't be dislocated, as from what I've read, you can't walk around on a dislocated hip for three weeks, and the pain would be much more severe. I tried looking up post-THR pain on the Internet and found one very detailed site, but it was far too detailed, and I think I'll let my doctor figure it out. My biggest fear is not that he'll say " It's so-and-so and we'll do this and that, " but that he'll say, as he always does, " There's nothing wrong. Don't worry, " and I'll spend the next 15 or 20 years with pain so bad it seems to reverberate in my fillings. By the way, I live in a so-called " developed " country outside the U.S. that, for some reason, doesn't believe in pain management, to the point that patients with terminal cancer weren't given morphine until around 10 years ago, at which time this was regarded as a ground-breaking medical innovation. So, you can imagine that I am left to deal with my hip pain alone. It's probably just as well that I'm not exposed to addictive drugs, but on the other hand, I'm worried about the effect that all this Tylenol (and Bufferin) might be having on my liver and kidneys. Alcohol is a good legal pain-killer, but it's both addictive and hard on your body, and anyway, I don't drink. If anyone has any idea what's wrong with my THR and whether it can be fixed, I'd love some feedback. And yes, I'm going to see my OS (the infamous Dr. Scary) on Wednesday, so your information will just be something to get me over the weekend without going crazier than I already am.
