Guest guest
DEAR SHARON, I AM SO SORRY THAT HAPPENED. I WISH YOU THE BEST AND QUICK HEALING. PLEASE STAY ON THE WALKER UNTIL YOU ARE VERY SURE YOU CAN WALK? I KEPT MINE BESIDE ME FOR EIGHT WEEKS THIS TIME. IT IS SO IMPORTANT TO KEEP YOUR BALANCE. THE LOOK ON MY SURGEON'S FACE AS HE SAID, "YOU DON'T WANT TO FALL" SINCERELY CONVINCED ME. HUGS OF SYMPATHY MARGEHi everyone:I wrote earlier about how well I was doing after surgery. I had my right hip replaced on 4/20/04 & was doing very well. Last Friday on the 14th I lost my balance & fell. Well to make a long story short, I broke my right femer. The surgeon had to go back in & replace the stem with a longer one & repair the break. The second surgery took over 3 hours, about twice as long as the first time. Now I get to start all over again. My hip is more painfull, probably because of all the digging around he had to do. My right leg is now about 1/2 inch longer than the left. I guess the good news is that if he had repaired the break & not replaced the stem, I would have been non or little weight bearing for another 6-8 weeks before I started physical therapy. Please everyone, be careful & don't take any chances. The little extra time it takes to be sure you have your balance or to get in the right position is worth it. I am a little leary of going home today, but am sure everything will be ok.Thanks for being here to listenSharon
Guest guest
Hi Marge: I was using my walker. This was just one of those fluke things that happen. It was late at night & I probably should have waited a minute or two before I got up. OH Well I am home again & ready to get on with the healing. Sharon > I AM SO SORRY THAT HAPPENED. Sharon Sorry that this mishap occurred. I broke mine (going to church, you'd think I'd have been protected a few years ago and it's a drag. I hope you get over this hump and the time goes quickly, and not painfully. Carolyn
