Now, Dr. Freeman, just to be fair the TAOS forms are tools for 'outcomes'. Period. That is all it is, and these particular ones are patient driven. Many insurance companies now require TAOS forms to be filled out in order for a PT to get paid. That was all I was saying. We are being headed in the same situation and it is something now that we can do to start laying the foundations for our 'validity', for lack of a better word. We have taken the power for seeking common language and sorely needed documentation for our profession. The secondary benefit as I see it is for insurance reimbursement. So figure out the the not nots and the truisms for that. That.

Willard, I completely agree with you re: your comment to me below. The 'segregation / discrimination' issues must be addressed. I have to punt to Vern for input on the hows for achieving of abolishment of those wrongs.

All y'all

I have had the best constitutional firm in Portland look at this issue about 18 months ago. There are problems with reversing the discrimination that exists primarily because the Feds give the states legislative bodies way latitude in lawmaking. There is case law in Philadelphia and also here in Oregon that gave us a slim to none chance of overturning WC law.

Currently I am having them research again as Nurses...did I hear that correctly....nurses...... get attending physician status for 90... was that NINETY.... days in WC as of last session !!!

Now why would nurses be able to attain 90 days and we cannot. So we shall see if there is now evidence sufficient to show the pattern of discrimination. The legislature has not been willing to work with us and I see that the only way to get around the discrimination is to get this issue in front of the robes.

And the dirty rats want me to pay state income tax !!!

Willard, I think in the case you describe you are experiencing discrimination. In PIP, one can only get paid for one year of treatment or until the PIP runs out. Your patient in past the one year and no matter what PIP won't pay for any further care PT or MD. Perhaps your patient has private insurance that is paying for additional care ? Perhaps their insurance doesn't cover DC care ? The MD and the PT are in the 'in crowd' and you are 'out'. If you cared to, you could have continued to treat the patient asking for full payment out of the settlement proceeds. But that is up to you and your office policy. So from my view this particular case has nothing to do with our new rule, except that the MD views chiropractic as endless care with little or no improvement after a period of time. I find it interesting that the PT would not continue care until you signed off on the plan. Were they being courteous or were they covering themselves from malpractice questions ?

Time to educate that MD. Time to show the world that we have a plan of care, measuring sticks to benchmark progress and the guts to refer a patient on or declare them medically stationary. And time to end discrimination.

Thank you for your prescient, conscious, intentional, courageous, and principled response.

I agree. Coupons never feel as solid and healthy as public speaking. We are doing more of it and a SMEG scanner, Posture Analyzer (which I built), and Esteb’s latest videos make it much more productive.

Hi ,

There are three things that have helped me build practice: Lay Lectures, Lay

Lectures and Lay Lectures. Have you looked at Meetups.com to check out the

multitude of groups you can speak to?

Giving away the store never works. The ones who come in on " specials " leave

when they have to start paying full price. That includes the HMO's (which

are trying to do to health care what has happened to farmers: make all the

money and make the ones who do the work {i.e. us} work harder for less and

starve for what we love).

I'd rather have patients who appreciate and want the services and pay a

reasonable fee (according to the State of Oregon schedule that Vern was kind

enough to pass along) than a multitude who don't follow recommendations,

don't seek proper care don't refer and live on hamburgers. (Pay, Stay,

Refer, " Avast yee coupon-lubbers " ).
