Osteo artheritis of the knee

Dear All

I have a friend who is experiencing a lot of discomfort from her knee

joints, especially the right one. She is due to have them X rayed in

June, but what she would like most to know, is how bad should they

get before replacement is necessary. Are there any of you out there

who could explain how bad they had become before an operation was the

only solution?

She would be very indebted for any help any of you could give.

Mike,

Have them x-ray the hips as well. My first symptom of hip arthritis was knee pain. Somehow it radiates from the hip to the knee. Sounds weird but it's true.

I had Pain so bad in BOTH knees that I didnt have a choice but to

have knee replacements. Dr. said Iam walking bone on bone. I had my

first knee replaced in January and still haveing discomfort, but the

right knee now is Killing me due to the weight I'am putting on it to

release from the operated knee. Althou I hope to find some comfort

sooner or later and rid of all this pain. Iam hopeing to do the next

knee in November if I can wait that long. I just didnt want to be off

work another 2months.
