Hi all, Happy new year to u all.

I am new to this group, I wonder why I never found this site b4 my

op.

I am 44 and male.

I have had my right hip done due to AO, I had had pain for years on

and off, but the last 3 years were a nightmare.

I am not sure of the technique done, or what the parts were called,

but it was time to get it done..

I had read a lot of info on the net, and I was more worried about

rehab, than the op itself. In some webpages I had read that I would

be bedridden for 2 weeks(which was not true) phew. I guess we are

all different.

The day after the op I was walking, very gingerly tho and only a few

steps that day(with a frame) I loved the frame for a few days, but

in fact I was scared of crutches, as I had never used them b4.

But now I wonder why I was scared, I love them, they get me around.

I am sure at times I have tried to push myself too hard, I drove

after 15 days..and walk a mile or so a day..But now I want to walk

without crutches, But alas my limp seems real bad.

What are peoples views on when to walk, or more importantly how to

learn to walk with no limp? Or is it just a matter of time? And am I

rushing things to much.

I am so glad I had the op, The pain I had b4 is gone, I now have

more movement than I used too, and even now socks are easier to put

on.

I must admit I have to think about everything I do, turning in bed

is tricky, but I can do it ok now..I had never been told to have a

pillow between my legs, and find it is very uncomfortable.
