Guest guest
Hey everyone, it's . I was wondering if anyone else only had such a few pt sessions before being totally released. I received 8 pt home visits post-op, but now have been totally discharged. My pt said he was trying to set up out-patient pt for me but was denied by my insurance and dr. Does this sound about right?? -Thanks, :-)
Guest guest
I had 6 home visits and about 10 outpatient visits at the rate of 2 per week. I don't know what's " normal " but my guess is that many hippies do have some outpatient PT, enough to say it's typical to have a few visits. Some have none. Maybe they will respond to your post also. Maybe it should be your surgeon who asks for the additional outpatient PT??? Would he have more clout? I don't know how this works exactly. Check into the procedure for appeals when coverage is denied. Also check the specifics of your policy to see if there are limits already written into the policy. I can't speak for your insurance coverage since policies vary so much in what they cover. I was fortunate to have all PT sessions covered at 100%. The insurance would preauthorize a certain number of visits, then when that # was reached, they would renew for additional visits. I actually stopped before I had used all the authorized visits since I was doing very well and it seemed silly to keep going when I could just do the exercises on my own. > Hey everyone, it's . Guest guest
My surgeon said, " I don't want anybody twisting you around, just do the exercises that you were shown in the hospital. Worked very well for me. JM
Guest guest
, I had 2x's a day PT in the hospital starting day after surgery. Was released the third day after surgery. Had 2x's a week at home for the first 3 weeks. Had 1x a week outpatient pt for the next 3 weeks and then was told I didn't need anymore. I concurred with this. I augmented my pt with trips to the gym three times a week after week 3. I felt this really helped. It was mostly treadmill walking, swimming and mild weight lifting for the legs. Hope this helps. Guest guest
I too had limited pt after my trh, three times a week ,for one week at home. and tyhese were only the regular excercises, adduction , ankle flexes etc. I am now going to the YMCA they have trainers to start you off on the various machines. MY local Y has nautilus machines all of which are so adjustable that the 90 degree rule is no problem. I intend to further my rehabn and get my body in overall better shape and lose weight to boot. jbgimpytubbs8695 <Suzeegrape@...> wrote: Nothing is normal with total joint replacement. I had only in hospital PT. First THR was in 7 days. Second 3 days. They let me go home after I could do steps, get out of bed myself and go to the bathroom. For my shoulders I had PT for 9 months as an outpatient for the first shoulder and 6 weeks for the second. I got more PT after I had my knee scoped after a MVA. The PT also had THR and was great. He worked my whole body and it was great. So I think having PT is better, it is just not always given.SueNope...
