Guest guest
Hey Drea, I have been practicing yoga now for 4 years. I just had my THR on April 1st. I was so afraid I wouldn't be able to do yoga after my surgery that I squeezed one last yoga practice in the morning of my surgery. I asked my surgeon prior to the surgery about continuing yoga after and he said he wouldn't recommend the extreme movements or bends. However, I have my post-op visit in May and I am going to bring my yoga book to get his feelings about which poses may or may not be advisable. I'll let you know! Namasday, :-) > is therre anyone out there that is a yoga practioner that has > experienced thr...i am curious as to how this procedure will affect > or limit your practice. i have heard that you can do pilates > after...but don't know anything about yoga.....thanks drea
Guest guest
Hi Drea, I had my THR in August and have been practicing yoga since December. Every Doctor will tell you something different about what activity you can do. I just watch my position and sometimes I modify the position and do it in parallel. Good luck. Guest guest
Hi , Well I'm happy to hear your doing so well could I asked you a question what do you do in Yoga? How old are you ? Do you smoke I quit three months ago and its still hard I won't go back because they cost too much money and not good for your Health , My PT told me to use Vaseine lotion with vitamin E that help me my scar I had for five years I had 38 staples so the cream didn't do me much good LOL LOL I feel better talking to differant people I'm one of the people that didn't do to good after the Hip replacement I wish I had people to talk to before the operation I quit smoking so I hoping this will help me feel better right now I still working on not smoking . Well you have a good day juneflower 60 or Susie Hello everyone, it is great to see so many people putting up positive messages regarding their hip replacements, so I thought I would add one. Yesterday I was 7 weeks post-op and I attended my 1st yoga class after my surgery. I was nervous and needed to modify quite a bit, but my muscles have been yearning for a good stretch after all these weeks of restrictions and exercises with little flexibility for stretching. Anyway, I know it is going to take some time to regain my strength and flexibility, however, I am hopeful that I will get it back. Also, does anyone have any good recommendations for scar creams or vitamins to put on the incision site now that it is healed? Thanks to all, and have a great day! - :-)
