Guest guest
I've had injections of cortisone and the acid of a rooster's comb, whatever it is called, and never had a lump of any kind. I think you shared that before and I wondered what the heck they did to cause a lump?! I remember thinking Oh NO this is not time for me to wake up - didn't hurt just shook me, I moved and I don't remember nothing after that. I had surgery on Nov 20th and still have swelling but ROA is great (only pain is in my calf from the shots that were used before they decided to DO the surgery - they settled in my calf in a lump). Anyone ever heard of that? or How long it will last in my calf?alwelch93021 <alwelch93021 > wrote: Lindy Lou,It varies by patient but for me it was lots of pain. They gave me 4 shots of morphine in recovery with the first TKR and I had uncontrolled shaking which is caused by pain.. until the shots kicked in. You raised a good question about the banging of parts. Since I had a TKR in Auguts that went bad and a revision in November my muscles atrophied and my PT said I should not do much walking until the muscles are rebuilt or the banging of the joint would cause swelling. I have found him to be correct. He said it will take me 6 months to rebuild them.Al Welch>> what about the pounding of the prothesis into the socket and into the femur? that must cause a great deal of pain afterwards. that must be such a trauma for the femur and i would imagine, the entire pelvic area's bones. how bad is the pain from this?> Hugs,> Lindy Lou> Right THR 1/22/2007> > > The post-op pain is mostly due to them cutting the quad muscle.....it's a bad pain but will be controlled with pain meds (and don't be afraid to take them!).....you can help the healing by doing leg raises now and building up that muscle ahead of time.....I would do them while sitting in the recliner watching TV at night....just flex the muscle and raise your leg about 12 inches and hold it for a few seconds....the stronger that muscle is before the surgery the better you will do....> > I had a spinal anesthesia but I don't remember any of the surgery...they give you other drugs to make you sleep and forget....> I'm now 4 months post-op and I love my new knee!> > > VISIT MY WEBSITE - www.wdsgifts.com Everyone is raving about the all-new beta. __________________________________________________
