Hi Tami,

I think I may be the most recent one to have a TKR....I'm 5 weeks

post op as of today. You couldn't have come to a better place than

this for support. I wish I'd found it before my surgery!! I, like

you had so many questions. Fortunately, I have an awesome doctor and

staff to answer all of them. I also found this book that helped me

to prepare myself and my house before the surgery. It guides you

week by week afterwards, and also has all these exercises to do

before and after it. It helps me so much.

But the people here are the BEST!!!! There are times when I'm

feeling so completely overwhelmed with what I'm going thru, and I'll

post my feelings here. I know that nobody here will think I'm

whinning, they've all gone thru " it " , doesn't matter if it's a hip or

knee. The pain, the therapy, the not sleeping...lots of different

emotions you'll have.... and sometimes you wanna throw in the towel.

But everyone will always be here for you, full of support and ready

to help answer your questions.

I have good days, and of course bad ones too. I'm not a very patient

person...just ask my husband...LOL. I'm having problems still not

getting enough of a bend. I'm being really hard on myself my PT and

my doctor say. I had a bit more to my surgery than most people

because he had to take alot of hardware out from previous surgeries,

so my recovery will be a bit harder. But every day is progress...and

I always remember what they tell me here, that people recover at

different paces. I am now doing things I NEVER thought I'd do again

just a couple of weeks ago.

Just come here for answers to your questions. The folks here will

welcome you with open arms just like they did me a few short weeks

ago. Good luck with your appointment.
