Check w/ your doctor, it will depend on his restrictions. What were

your restrictions on the first surgery? It will depend on how much

disruption of tissue takes place during the surgery.

Thank you for the reply. I did't have any restrictions other than

the normal ones. I was wondering if there is any difference in the

recovery between the two.

Each time the joint capsule is opened, there is generally a slight

reduction in range of motion that occurs as a result of peri-

operative ligamentous and muscular scarring. Depending on the degree

of surgical trauma you may experience this with your revision. It may

manifest in a degree of hip flexion loss. The resolve may be a higher

seat placement and possibly a higher rise on your handlebars.

I was back to cycling 3 weeks post-op after a THR in june '03 with

restrictions on flexion, and care with mounting/dismounting for 6

months post-op.
