Guest guest
Get used to it ! Be glad, they allow the procedure at all. It has actually come to that !!! Totally mind-boggling. My husband spent 30 years in service to his country and got through 2 wars while in the Navy. I was turned down at several places for a post-op rehab stay because they did not take Tricare (the military insurance for retirees and dependents). > I am not prepared for the amount of control the insurance company > exerts. I highly recommend a case manager. Our first case manager was local, so after several months of her working with us and fighting on our behalf, Katy and I took her flowers. She was touched by the flowers -- but she broke down and cried because of the opportunity to meet Katy and see how well she was doing. She had never met a child she had had to fight for and it really made her day. Unfortunately, our insurance changed soon afterward. If possible, once the relationship has been established, send her/him a picture of your child with a thank-you for making this child's health possible. Be as cooperative and appreciative as possible. There will be times when you have to disagree and fight, but you can do it with gentleness and courtesy -- and you win more battles that way. I don't believe the case manager will have any more information than the general insurance company -- they will just be able to put it all together for your benefit! Also, when talking to insurance about anything -- remember that they are a business -- so be sure and get your facts. When fighting for IVIG, tell them how many hospitalizations and infections they've had to pay for in the past and what IVIG may mean to the total cost of treating this patient. Best wishes for a great relationship with your case manager. They made my life easier. In His service, dale
