Guest guest
As long as the subject has come up...I completely lost bladder control after my THR in Dec., as soon as the catheter was removed. Flooded the bathroom floor a few times at the hospital & at home. I had no experience with this problem, even though I'm in my upper 70s, so I complained about it to my daughters. They went right out & came back with stick-on pads, some waterproof bed pads, 3 pairs of knit boxer shorts & some flannel pj pants (I only had nightgowns). Their help took the stigma right out of the experience, & relieved my panic! There's nothing like waking up in the wee hours & needing to get to the walker & thump into the bathroom, drop the cane, etc., when you're really in a hurry. Then there was the 20-year-old granddaughter who liked to take long showers at 1 AM... I gradually improved & after 10 days was back in control. My OS said maybe I got a UTI from have the catheter, but I never ran a fever or had any other symptoms. NO FUN! But if it ever happens again I won't be shy & embarrassed, I'll know what to do. So far as the effects of child-bearing go, I have 3 kids. Barbara Ward Macomb County, Michigan ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ 8:00? 8:25? 8:40?
