Guest guest
> > My mom lives in Tucson AZ; her surgeon is with the Tucson Orthopedic > Institute and the surgeries were done at Tucson Medical Center. a second opinion would probably be a good idea. . The Mayo Clinic in sdale might be a good choice for a second opinion. http://www.mayoclinic.org/scottsdale/ I don't have personal experience with Mayo/sdale, but know of serveral people who have and were pleased with their treatment and experience. I had orthopedic surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota a few years back. At that time they were considered to be among the top few hospitals in orthopedics. They attract some of the best trained OS ti ttheir staff. They solved a difficult orthopedic problem for me and I was/am very happy with the result. Even if your mom isn't up for another try at fixing her knee, she could probably benefit from another OS looking at her problem. I know it is difficult to find a doctor. I'm a nurse, and I still have problems finding a doctor that is highly skilled, personal and trustworthy. Ask the PT's who see your mom. Professionals are always reluctant to recommend someone, but if you phase your question, " Who would you see if she were your mother'', they will sometimes give you a name or two. Is there a senior center where you could go. Visit the swimming pool. Ask people with knee scars who look like they are doing well who their doctor was. Anyone else on this list from Arizona? Can you recomend a OS for 's mom? I would recommend mine, but I live in Colorado. Good luck, Phyllis
