Guest guest
Hi Pat I can relate very well to your situation. In 2001 at the age of 54, I had both hips replaced (one in January and the other in July). I have had bad knees ever since I can remember.....even had corrective surgery on the right knee in 1980. However, about 2 years before my surgeries I started having significant back pain that kept getting worse.....then I walked with a limp.....then I walked with a cane.....and the ortho doc was ready to do a knee replacement. I finally went to a rheumatoid arthritis doc who lifted and turned each leg and told me it was my hips. My new ortho doc confirmed the hips and the rest is history. I didn't cross anything after each surgery.....not feet, ankles, knees. My second surgery was on 7/26/91 and my first grandchild was born 10/5/91. I can't say I could run around the block at that point but I was certainly able to help at the house. Hope this info helps some. Please feel free to contact me. Guest guest
Wow Sally, It is too bad that it took a second doctor to confirm that it was hips and not knees. Thank goodness you got the correct dx. I gotta say, I am REALLY scared to do this surgery/recovery. The Weight Loss Surgery recovery has been pretty darn easy, though the weight is going off slowly because I don't exercise. I can't walk for exercise and I don't get off my butt to do any other type. I think this is by I am scared about the THR ... in order to succeed, you really need to be motivated and I am afraid I won't be. However, I do want to be normal sized, I do want to be rid of the hip pain and be able to walk normally. Guess I better start working on myself to figure out why I hate exercise so much. Thanks for your reply Sally. You give me hope. Pat > Hi Pat > I can relate very well to your situation. In 2001 at the age of 54, I had > both hips replaced (one in January and the other in July).
