Guest guest
Dear Don & Lindy ... never thought about using crutches for the uneven ground (I also live in the country with gravel roads & driveway). When I was in the hospital the first time they had me try them, but I just couldn't get the knack of it. So, for now I am content with the wheeled walker because it's winter and I'm not missing the outdoors. Now when Spring comes, I hope to be graduated to a cane by then.JackieLHR 10/24/06RHR 1/23/07No banners. No pop-ups. Guest guest
Me too! :-) I went to the Air and Space Museum yesterday with the kids and grandkids and walking that smooth, open space and an uphill ramp seemed very therapeutic. Then we went to see Night at the Museum at the Imax theater there. I kept flexing my kness under my seat. I know you live out in the woods, not conducive to walking. Maybe during your recovery, you could walk the local grocery store. After yesterday, I decided to do some mall walking. Starting with the walker, I used it, one crutch, two crutches, and a cane during recovery. Also the motorized carts and a wheel chair on my first outings. I found them all helpful depending on the day. I took along my cane yesterday, but left it in the car. When we got back to my son's house, I grabbed it and out of habit, started walking with it. I was trying to figure out why it felt all wrong. The kids started laughing...they had readjusted it. My arm was practically up to my shoulder. Obviously, I must be getting better now that the kids can start teasing me. :-) lindy <everyothername.istaken@...> wrote: thanks for the input donna. i think crutches would be so much easier for me, rather than a walker. i hope i come home with them. good idea to keep one handy in your car even though you haven't had to use it and i hope you don't. Love and Hugs,Lindy LouRight THR 1/22/2007 I came home with the walker after BTKRs. I had crutches from a previous injury, and started using them when I was going to be on my feet for any significant amount of time. Even after I moved on to a cane, the crutches came in very handy when I went shopping or out to lunch. I keep one in my car as a security blanket. I haven't needed it, but it's there just in case.
