Guest guest
Congradulations Bob! I can remember those bikes! Is Luce a Schwinn? I don't like the new bikes nowadays. I realize there is a new high tech generation for them but I remember those lazy days and riding my bike..with the fenders, streamers, and card clipped against the spokes with a clothes pin...clothes pin? How many people remember those?..I asked my grandson (12) if he knew what it was...nope..I asked my daughter, her answer was.. I know what it is...one of those pinchy thing that hold clothes to a line outside...Who would want to dry there clothes outdoors? Oh how I miss the good old days...AND the smell of fresh line dried bedding! Well thanks for that *ride* down memory lane Bob. I hope you and Lucy will have a long life together with many happy hours of riding and remembering things one would only think of while out pedeling. Guest guest
Wow, that's great. I miss bike riding so much. good luck with Lucy and I'm sure you two will have many happy hours together!!! Judy Hey Gang, Forgive my ramble here, but I just bought a used bicycle & am sooo excited that I figured I'd better park it('cause the sun's goin' down) & I'll just share my excitement with y'all & ride the bike again after sun-up on Saturday.... I had my TKR in February & have ridden stationary bikes for rehab, but rehab ended a coupla months ago( & I joined the YMCA so that I could keep on riding & doing rehab exercises on my own)...But I can't always make it to the 'Y' because my work schedule is really odd,,,but I often have an hour or 2 each day that I could use more productively,,,So I had a choice of buying(used, 'cause I'm on a budget) a stationary bike, or a real bike... I BOUGHT A BIKE!!!! She's a 20 year old women's 3 speed (I'm a 50 y/o male)with saddle bags & a bell,,,perfect for toodling around the park on & using to ride up to the corner for a quick bag of groceries....Anything to keep the knee flexing.... She wasn't easy to find, because I knew exactly what I wanted....No more 10 speeds for me,,,,I wanted something that I could simply step onto(without having to swing my leg over one of those " Boys Bike Bars " and more importantly, I wanted something that I could stop & easily get off of....Oh, & she also has 'fenders', so that if it's a little drizzly, I won't have to worry about a 'bike stain' running up & down the middle of my back! I've christened her 'Lucy',,,(if people can name boats & cars, then I figure that I can name a bike),,, & I look forward to many pleasant hours in Lucy's saddle... Bob P.S...Luce & I are sitting in my living room now, making plans for some easy 'round the park riding tomorrow. _______________________________________________ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web! Guest guest
You are too funny. Enjoy the bike. I had my second knee done in February also. Guest guest
Bob I have a ladies 10 speed. When I got on it for the first time I dumped it in the garage. I had never used hand brakes before. And Eleanor I still use clothes pins and hang my clothes out as often as I can. I love the smell of them. Guest guest
Hey Eleanor, Luce is a 'Ross', but she thinks she's a Schwinn & I haven't got the heart to tell her...Streamers, I'd forgotten all about the streamers,,,I'll have to get her some, because sometimes a girl just wants to feel pretty...And speaking of line dried laundry, Oklahoma was the best state for that because it seemed like the wind was always blowing, but then one winter, overnight, there was a bizzarre quick freeze & we woke up the next morning with all the clothes frozen solid, & because the wind had kept blowing while the clothing froze, we found many undergarments caught in compromising poses. It was quite a sight! Bob > > Congradulations Bob! I can remember those bikes! Is Luce a Schwinn? I > don't like the new bikes nowadays. Guest guest
Congratulations, Jack. I hope you and Lucy spend many happy years together. I had a bike like that about 55 years ago. It was a Schwinn. Blue and White with fenders, a bell and saddle bags. I also added a basket on the front handlebars. I spent many, many happy hours on that bike. Guest guest
Hi Arianne, Thanks for the encouragement! Lucy & I went for a 10 minute test ride today...She & I both have some squeaky joints,,,but they're nothing that a little WD40 & duct tape & some rubbing alchohal on the brakes can't handle... I really do hope to spend many many years gently riding around with Lucy... Bob...(not really Jack,,,that's just my e-mail name)But I will answer to either one... P.S. 'Arianne' is an absolutely lovely name,,,Is it a family name? I am just wondering, because names, and their origins are important to me. Take care, and God bless > > > > Hey Gang, > > > > Forgive my ramble here, but I just bought a used bicycle & am sooo > > excited that I figured I'd better park it('cause the sun's goin' down) > > & I'll just share my excitement with y'all & ride the bike again > > after sun-up on Saturday.... > > > > I had my TKR in February & have ridden stationary bikes for rehab, > > but rehab ended a coupla months ago( & I joined the YMCA so that I > > could keep on riding & doing rehab exercises on my own)...But I can't > > always make it to the 'Y' because my work schedule is really > > odd,,,but I often have an hour or 2 each day that I could use more > > productively,,,So I had a choice of buying(used, 'cause I'm on a > > budget) a stationary bike, or a real bike... > > > > I BOUGHT A BIKE!!!! > > > > She's a 20 year old women's 3 speed (I'm a 50 y/o male)with saddle > > bags & a bell,,,perfect for toodling around the park on & using to > > ride up to the corner for a quick bag of groceries....Anything to > > keep the knee flexing.... > > > > She wasn't easy to find, because I knew exactly what I wanted....No > > more 10 speeds for me,,,,I wanted something that I could simply step > > onto(without having to swing my leg over one of those " Boys Bike Bars " > > and more importantly, I wanted something that I could stop & easily > > get off of....Oh, & she also has 'fenders', so that if it's a little > > drizzly, I won't have to worry about a 'bike stain' running up & down > > the middle of my back! > > > > I've christened her 'Lucy',,,(if people can name boats & cars, then I > > figure that I can name a bike),,, & I look forward to many pleasant > > hours in Lucy's saddle... > > > > Bob > > > > P.S...Luce & I are sitting in my living room now, making plans for > > some easy 'round the park riding tomorrow. > > >
Guest guest
Bob, like you, Arianne is my online name. I took that name when I had a Landscape Design business until my arthritis got too bad. I had to give the business up. My real name is Ann. Glad you had fun with Lucy today.
