Guest guest
My THR Hi Faye, Sorry to hear about your pain. Have you had physical therapy yet? I had my THR on November 1, and was doing really well until last week. Now I'm not able to sleep without pain meds, and even then have trouble. The pain is mostly in my hip and knee. I started physical therapy this week, and I'm hoping that once my muscles strengthen, the pain will subside. I hope your feeling better soon. Barbara Hi Carol,I was doing good, but then I started having a pain in my hip and had
Guest guest
Hi Barbara, Yes I have had my therapy, and I was doing great. Then last weekend I started had bad pains in my hip and leg. The doctor thinks it may be an infection or has to do with my bone. I hope to get the blood work back soon. The pain never stops, even with the pain pills. I hope to know something soon. Guest guest
Hi Faye, If you've had an uncemented THR I here that certain people can have significant thigh pain for a while as the prosthesis bonds. I hope its just that or muscular problems. I've just jumped in here but I presume you are getting some good PT? The bone scan is fantastically sensitive at picking up any infection so it sounds like you are in good hands. The surgeon is probably being extra careful as you would have a fever or other signs if you had an infection and he wouldnt wait 2 weeks before doing the scan or putting you on antibiotics. I had bone infections on and off before my THR, due to a previous op (osteotomy) and it took 10 years of recurrent abscesses before someone thought to think of doing a bone scan! Eventually they just removed the infected piece of bone and did IV antibiotics. The scan itself is quite relaxing-your not in a confined space like with the MRI. They inject you with some dye first which was also painless. I hope you find the source of your pain soon, best wishes, Leigh However if your tempeature is fine you are likely to be fine
