My dog doesn't jump. But my friend's dog -- a huge, sweet Lab -- gets very excited about visitors and jumps on them. She has a special affection for me that was a bit overwhelming at times. When I was able to get out of the house after surgery and to her house for dinner, my friend was concerned the dog would hurt me. She put coins in a coffee can. Each time the dog started to jump, she rattled the can and the dog immediately backed off. Now the dog no longer jumps on me or anyone else. It's a humane way to train a dog and to protect yourself after sugery. Anyway, you yell loud enough the first time and push the doggie off, I suspect she won't try it again. DONNA,

that's a GREATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT idea. i'm going to try it with Nikki because she jumps on everyone that comes over and a lot of people just don't like that. she's a sweet dog but she doesn't know when enough is enough already. thanks for the great tip!
